AgroPlus 2006 opens new grain elevator, feed mill in Ukraine

This initiative is made possible by the support of the USAID and is expected to promote sustainable livestock practices in the Cherkasy region.

UKRAINE – Ukraine-based AgroPlus 2006, backed by Austrian entrepreneur Thomas Brunner, has launched a new grain elevator complex and feed mill in the Cherkasy region with support from the USAID AGRO Ukraine program.

The US$2.2 million (UAH 90 million) investment is designed to expand storage, feed production, and service support for local farmers while advancing the company’s antibiotic-free pig farming model.

The newly opened elevator currently handles barley and wheat and is preparing for the upcoming sunflower and corn season. With an initial storage capacity of 15,000 tonnes, the company has plans to expand to 40,000 tonnes in the future.

The integrated feed mill will further enable AgroPlus 2006 to supply both its own operations and the needs of regional producers.

Boost for local farmers

The facilities are set to benefit more than 80 micro, small and medium-sized agricultural producers in the community. Farmers will gain access to modern grain storage, drying, and cleaning services, as well as favorable cooperation terms.

These include a 20 percent discount on grain drying, one month of free storage, and compound feed production on a tolling basis.

In addition, AgroPlus 2006 is offering a program that allows farmers to earn income from pig fattening without making significant upfront investments.

The initiative aligns with the company’s mission of raising pigs without antibiotics and producing high-value-added meat products for both domestic and export markets.

Strengthening antibiotic-free production

Founded in 2006, AgroPlus 2006 has built its reputation as a modern pig farm specializing in pedigree Large White pigs of Austrian origin.

By focusing on antibiotic-free practices, the company supplies premium pork products to Ukraine and exports to Austria and Italy.

The launch of the new elevator and feed mill reflects AgroPlus 2006’s long-term strategy of creating integrated value chains while contributing to the sustainability of Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

These facilities are not only for our company’s needs but also serve as service platforms to support local farmers,” Brunner said.

With USAID AGRO’s support and its new infrastructure, AgroPlus 2006 is positioned to strengthen farmer incomes, improve feed efficiency, and promote sustainable livestock practices in the Cherkasy region.
