dsm-firmenich acquires Verax platform to strengthen AI-driven livestock analytics

Verax™ was first introduced for broilers, where it has been credited with enhancing decision-making and reducing reliance on antibiotics.

NETHERLANDS – dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) has acquired full ownership of the Verax™ predictive farm analytics platform, strengthening its artificial intelligence and precision livestock capabilities as demand for data-driven tools that improve animal health, productivity and sustainability grows.

The acquisition transfers full ownership of the platform from health analytics company InsideTracker after seven years of joint development.

Verax is currently the livestock industry’s only globally deployed early-warning platform that uses blood-based biomarkers to predict and assess animal health before clinical signs appear. 

The technology enables producers to identify health and husbandry challenges earlier, supporting more informed management decisions.

The acquisition allows ANH to fully integrate Verax into its Precision Services ecosystem, creating a unified platform that combines data collection, predictive modelling and on-farm advisory services.

As part of the agreement, three InsideTracker employees have joined dsm-firmenich to support the transition and the platform’s future development.

Ivo Lansbergen, President of Animal Nutrition & Health, said full ownership would accelerate innovation in predictive livestock management.

“With Verax software fully owned by ANH, we strengthen our data-driven and software competencies, helping farmers identify health and husbandry challenges well in advance, while giving us the freedom to enhance this unique platform and accelerate AI-driven innovation in animal farming,” he said.

Building on AI innovation in livestock production

The Verax platform was first developed in 2019 through a collaboration between dsm-firmenich and InsideTracker, adapting biomarker analysis and machine learning technologies originally designed for human health to livestock production.

According to Scott Cavey, Head of Precision Nutrition & Health at ANH, the collaboration has transformed complex biological data into practical tools for livestock producers.

“Their technological know how and scientific rigor helped shape Verax into a robust, credible platform that transforms biomarker data and peer-reviewed evidence into practical, actionable insights,” he said.

The acquisition builds on dsm-firmenich’s continued investment in artificial intelligence for animal production. 

In 2025, the company expanded Verax beyond broilers by launching an AI-powered version for laying hens, enabling producers to predict health risks, optimise flock performance and improve productivity. 

The original broiler platform has also been recognised for helping producers improve decision-making while reducing reliance on antibiotics.

InsideTracker Chief Executive Officer Rony Sellam said the partnership had demonstrated the value of predictive analytics in livestock production.

“The Verax partnership originated with a shared vision: to use data as a prediction mechanism to improve animal health and welfare,” he said.

ANH confirmed there will be no changes for existing Verax customers, with platform support and services continuing uninterrupted during the transition.

The acquisition further strengthens dsm-firmenich’s digital livestock portfolio as producers increasingly adopt artificial intelligence, predictive analytics and precision nutrition technologies to improve efficiency, reduce production costs and support more sustainable animal agriculture.
