The facility effectively doubles the company’s output to service the pet food industry across Australasia and Southeast Asia

AUSTRALIA – Symrise Pet Food has broken ground on a new production facility in Rutherford, New South Wales, as the company expands its manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for pet food ingredients across Australasia and parts of Southeast Asia.
The new facility will produce palatability enhancers, health and nutrition ingredients, and pet food protection solutions for the regional market.
According to the company, the investment reflects its commitment to strengthening local manufacturing capabilities while bringing production closer to customers and raw material suppliers across the Asia-Pacific region.
Once operational, the facility is expected to double Symrise’s production capacity for the region, enabling the company to better serve the expanding pet food industry in Australasia and selected Southeast Asian markets.
The site will manufacture Symrise’s portfolio of palatability enhancers under its SPF brand, alongside Nutrios health and nutrition ingredients and pet food protection solutions.
The project also represents a consolidation of the company’s regional operations, with activities moving from nearby Beresfield in New South Wales to the new Rutherford site.
Symrise said the expansion forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific market, where demand for premium pet food and nutrition solutions continues to increase.
The company described the groundbreaking as a significant milestone for its Pet Food business.
“This investment reflects our commitment to supporting the growing pet food market, strengthening local capabilities, and bringing our expertise closer to customers across the region,” Symrise said.
The company added that it looks forward to the opportunities the new facility will create for customers, partners and employees as construction progresses.
Beyond increasing production capacity, the investment is expected to create new employment opportunities in the Maitland region while supporting the continued growth of Australia’s pet food manufacturing sector.
Symrise is one of the world’s leading suppliers of flavours, fragrances, nutrition and functional ingredients, serving customers across the food, beverage, pet food and consumer goods industries.
The company has not yet disclosed the value of the investment, the expected production start date or the number of jobs the new facility will create. More details are expected once the company releases its official project announcement.
