KENT WORLDWIDE expands pet care business with new cat litter manufacturing facility

USA – KENT WORLDWIDE, a leading producer of high‑quality animal nutrition solutions, has officially opened a new flagship manufacturing facility for its World’s Best Cat Litter® brand, expanding production capacity to meet growing demand for plant-based pet care products.

The company celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new 174,000-square-foot facility in Muscatine, Iowa. 

Situated on a 70-acre site, the plant is designed to support future growth and includes dedicated research and development space to accelerate product innovation.

According to the company, the investment was driven by increasing consumer demand for World’s Best Cat Litter®, a corn-based litter brand that has been on the market for more than 25 years.

“This expansion is a direct result of the increasing demand for the World’s Best Cat Litter®,” said Steve Gordon, President of KENT WORLDWIDE Consumer Brands.

“Our customers have come to rely on us to provide high-quality, corn-based litter products for their pets, and this new facility marks an exciting milestone for our organization in a community that plays such a vital role in our company’s history.”

The pet care sector continues to attract significant investment as global pet ownership rises and consumers increasingly seek premium, sustainable and natural products. 

Plant-based litter products have gained popularity as pet owners seek alternatives to traditional clay-based litter, creating growth opportunities for manufacturers focused on sustainability and performance.

Facility designed to support future growth

The new manufacturing site was strategically located near KENT WORLDWIDE’s headquarters and distribution network to improve operational efficiency and strengthen supply capabilities.

At full capacity, the facility is expected to employ approximately 96 people, contributing to economic growth and job creation in the Muscatine area.

State and local officials welcomed the investment, highlighting its significance for both the local economy and Iowa’s manufacturing sector.

“I am eager to see KENT WORLDWIDE’s continued expansion in Muscatine through this new state-of-the-art facility,” said Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority.

“KENT WORLDWIDE has always been a leader in manufacturing, and this new facility is a testament to their willingness to continue to innovate and meet market demands.”

Muscatine Mayor Dr Brad Bark said the project reinforces the long-standing relationship between the company and the community.

“We are proud to support KENT WORLDWIDE’s continued growth in Muscatine through this new manufacturing plant,” Bark said. 

“The city of Muscatine and KENT WORLDWIDE have a deep-rooted partnership, and we look forward to the future together.”

The new facility strengthens KENT WORLDWIDE’s position in the growing pet care market while providing additional manufacturing capacity to support rising demand for premium and environmentally conscious pet products.
