VIV Select India debut highlights feed sector innovation and growth potential

India’s livestock sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by rising demand for animal protein and the need to improve production efficiency under resource constraints.

INDIA – The first edition of VIV Select India 2026 concluded in New Delhi, underlining the country’s growing role in the global feed-to-food value chain, with a strong focus on feed technology, nutrition and production efficiency.

Held from April 22 to 24 at the Yashobhoomi Convention and Expo Centre, the event attracted more than 7,100 professionals from 37 countries.

It featured 130 exhibitors spanning animal feed, poultry, dairy, aquaculture and animal health.

Organised by VNU Exhibitions Europe in partnership with the Poultry Federation of India, the exhibition marked the entry of the globally recognised VIV platform into the Indian market, bringing together feed manufacturers, integrators, technology providers and policymakers.

The exhibition floor featured key industry players, including De Heus Animal Nutrition India, FAMSUN and Big Dutchman, showcasing solutions in feed processing, automation and precision nutrition tailored to India’s rapidly evolving livestock sector.

Feed innovation and efficiency take centre stage

Feed-related innovations were a central focus of the event, reflecting the increasing importance of feed efficiency, cost optimisation and sustainability in India’s livestock production systems.

Exhibitors presented technologies aimed at improving feed conversion ratios, enhancing nutrient utilisation and supporting more precise formulation strategies.

Advances in feed milling, ingredient handling and digital monitoring systems were also highlighted, demonstrating how automation and data-driven approaches are reshaping feed production.

The conference programme further reinforced this focus, with discussions addressing the role of feed in improving animal health, productivity and overall system efficiency.

Sessions explored the integration of feed solutions with broader developments in vaccines, biologicals and farm management practices.

India’s livestock sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by rising demand for animal protein and the need to improve production efficiency under resource constraints.

In this context, feed remains the single largest cost component, making innovation in feed formulation and processing critical for industry growth.

“The response from the Indian industry to this first edition has been something we are genuinely proud of,” said Patrick van Rooij, Project Manager of VIV Select India.

“Producers, integrators, technology providers and policymakers came together with a shared intent to exchange, learn and build.”

Industry stakeholders noted that platforms such as VIV Select India play a key role in connecting local producers with global expertise, accelerating the adoption of advanced feed technologies and best practices.

Looking ahead, organisers confirmed that the next edition will take place in April 2027 in New Delhi, with expectations of further expansion as India continues to strengthen its position in the global feed and livestock sectors.
