BAP certification shows IFFC meets global standards for sustainable, high-quality aquafeed with full traceability.

OMAN – The International Fish Feed Company (IFFC), a producer of high‑quality fish and shrimp feed, has become the first feed mill in Oman to earn Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) announced, a landmark for aquaculture supply chains in the country.
Since its establishment in 2023, IFFC has made rapid progress in building capacity, forging international partnerships, and operationalising a modern aquafeed facility that aligns with both Oman Vision 2040 and global sustainability benchmarks.
Achieving the BAP certification demonstrates that IFFC’s feed products comply with third‑party audited standards for environmental responsibility, animal health, worker safety and product integrity.
GSA’s accreditation, therefore, not only recognises mill operations but also signals industry confidence that the feed inputs used in Oman’s seafood production chain meet globally accepted criteria for sustainability and responsible sourcing.
“Responsible aquaculture begins with responsible inputs,” said Iain Shone, Director of Market Development at GSA, noting that IFFC’s certification reflects forward‑thinking leadership in sustainable feed production.
IFFC opened its state‑of‑the‑art aquafeed manufacturing plant in the Special Economic Zone Authority Duqm (SEZAD), leveraging advanced production technology to support the sector’s rapid expansion and regional demand for high‑quality feed.
The facility’s first phase completed trial operations and began commercial production in April 2025, delivering Oman’s first large‑scale, domestically produced aquafeed with an annual capacity of 31,200 metric tons.
A defining element of IFFC’s early achievements has been its strategic collaboration with Dutch feed specialist Skretting, a subsidiary of the global nutrition company Nutreco.
The partnership has enabled IFFC to tap into Skretting’s technical expertise in feed formulation, research and development, and ingredient optimisation, a major differentiator in quality and sustainability compared with conventional feed production.
IFFC’s operations focus on producing feeds that enhance fish growth, health and feed conversion efficiency, key performance indicators for responsible aquaculture.
The company has implemented stringent quality control systems aligned with international benchmarks, integrating technology and best practices that meet global standards for traceability, nutrient formulation and manufacturing consistency, all prerequisites for BAP certification.
IFFC’s milestone also builds on progress elsewhere in Oman’s aquaculture value chain.
Musandam Aquaculture, a seabream producer that sources feed from IFFC, has itself received BAP certification, reinforcing closer alignment between feed producers and farm operations in the country.
