Alltech expands Southeast Asia leadership with BK Chew

Chew’s technical expertise covers phytogenics, probiotics and bioactive feed additives, with sustainability remaining a central focus throughout his career.

SOUTHEAST ASIA – Alltech has strengthened its leadership footprint in Southeast Asia with the appointment of Chew Boon Kee, widely known as BK Chew, as General Manager for Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, alongside his new role as APAC Key Account Director, as the global animal nutrition company looks to accelerate growth across the region.

The appointment, announced this week, positions Chew at the helm of Alltech’s business strategy and operations in the three countries, where he will work to deepen customer partnerships and expand the company’s presence in key livestock and aquaculture sectors.

He will collaborate closely with existing Southeast Asia leaders Dennis Garcia, who oversees the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia, and Heng Aik Jin, responsible for Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, forming a consolidated regional leadership team.

Decades of regional expertise

Chew brings decades of experience in animal nutrition and specialty ingredients across the Asia-Pacific region, with a career spanning animal health, gut health, antibiotic alternatives, precision nutrition and sustainable feed solutions.

Known for combining scientific depth with commercial leadership, he has worked extensively with poultry, pork, aquaculture and ruminant producers to develop tailored nutrition programmes aimed at improving performance while reducing reliance on antibiotic growth promoters.

Prior to joining Alltech, Chew held senior leadership positions at several global agri-business and animal nutrition companies.

His technical expertise covers phytogenics, probiotics and bioactive feed additives, with sustainability remaining a central focus throughout his career.

He has also spent significant time based in Bangkok and has led business development initiatives across multiple Southeast Asian markets.

Chew is a familiar figure in the regional industry circuit and a frequent speaker at major events, including VIV Asia, where he has contributed to discussions on innovation and sustainable livestock production.

Supporting Alltech’s regional ambitions

BK Chew’s appointment further strengthens Alltech’s leadership team in Southeast Asia,” said Kei Nakayama, managing director for Alltech Northeast and Southeast Asia. “His leadership will further strengthen our strategic partnership with key customers and advance our commercial strategy throughout Asia.”

Chew holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Purdue University and completed graduate studies in reproductive physiology and endocrinology at the University of Idaho.

In his expanded role, Alltech said he will play a critical part in aligning regional key accounts with the company’s broader Asia-Pacific growth strategy, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving animal production sector.
