Petjio World eyes US$1.5M seed round to disrupt India’s growing pet care market

Targeting India’s tier-2 cities, Petjio seeks to address the “broken supply” of pet care options outside major metros.

INDIA – Petjio World, a pet care startup headquartered in India, has begun talks with venture capital firms and family offices to raise US$1.5 million in its first institutional funding round.

The investment will be used to develop the platform, strengthen on-ground operations, and scale marketing initiatives as the company aims to meet rising demand in smaller cities.

We are a curated marketplace that combines service providers across boarding, grooming, training, vet consultations and adoption,” said founder Pratik Sen.

Our fundraising will support platform development, on-ground operations, marketing, and building a quality-first service network across cities.

Petjio’s early discussions include prominent names such as Capria Ventures and a range of family offices from India, the UAE, and the US. The company was co-founded by Pratik Sen, Satyajit Sen—former CEO of Zenith Optimedia—Dipankar Dey, and Suvendu Das.

Their collective aim is to build a one-stop, tech-enabled solution for pet owners seeking reliable, premium services in fast-growing but underserved markets.

Targeting India’s tier-2 cities, Petjio seeks to address the “broken supply” of pet care options outside major metros.

Demand is growing but supply is broken,” said Sen, emphasising the need for streamlined, trustworthy services in these emerging urban centres.

The Petjio platform includes a wide range of offerings, from pet walking and grooming to para-vet and transportation services. Each service is designed with a strong emotional connection to pet parents.

Blooming pet care market

India’s pet care market, valued at US$3.5 billion, is expected to double by 2028, according to a report by Redseer Strategy Consultants.

The report attributes the growth to rising pet ownership, surging from 26 million pets in 2019 to 32 million in 2024, as well as a growing appetite for premium and specialised pet care.

Increasing pet ownership, a shift towards premium products, and a rise in digital services are reshaping the market,” the report stated.

While most spending still takes place in offline venues like clinics and pet stores, online platforms are rapidly gaining ground.

Petjio’s vision places it in competition with established players like Pedigree, Royal Canin, Purina, Supertails, Heads Up For Tails, and Drools.

However, its hyperlocal focus and integrated digital services give it an edge, especially among convenience-seeking pet parents in emerging cities.
