Biochem expands Lohne footprint with new site acquisition

GERMANY – Biochem, a global animal nutrition company specializing in feed additives and dietary supplements, has acquired a 7,000-square-metre property next to its headquarters and production facilities in Lohne, Germany, securing additional space for the long-term expansion of its animal nutrition operations.

The transaction, completed in July 2026, includes an existing 1,350-square-metre warehouse at Brägeler Forst 6. 

The property provides additional infrastructure capacity while allowing Biochem to expand without disrupting its current administrative and production activities.

The acquisition strengthens Biochem’s presence in the Oldenburger Münsterland region, one of Germany’s important livestock and agricultural areas. 

The company said maintaining its central operations in Lohne will support future growth while keeping its headquarters, production and new development capacity within the same site.

“This land acquisition is a solid baseline for our long-term site development,” said Dr Alexander Grafe, CEO of Biochem. 

“Expanding our facilities at Brägeler Forst reaffirms our ongoing commitment to Lohne and the Oldenburger Münsterland region as our central corporate base.”

Biochem develops products and solutions for animal nutrition, supporting livestock production through feed additives, premixes and other nutritional technologies. 

Its location in the Oldenburger Münsterland places its operations close to a major German livestock production region, supporting connections with customers and the wider agricultural supply chain.

The newly acquired property is directly adjacent to Biochem’s existing headquarters and production facilities. 

The company said this proximity will help optimise workflows between teams, streamline supply chain management and provide a basis for integrating the additional space into future development projects.

The warehouse also gives Biochem immediate additional infrastructure capacity while the wider 7,000-square-metre property provides room for future expansion.

Biochem said the acquisition is part of its longer-term site development strategy rather than an immediate change to current production. 

Future facility expansion will be carried out in subsequent project phases as the company’s capacity requirements develop.

By securing land next to its existing site, Biochem is retaining its operational base in Lohne while creating flexibility to expand its animal nutrition activities and infrastructure over the coming years.
