Granovit acquires utro Fikovit to consolidate Swiss feed production

SWITZERLAND – Granovit AG is acquiring fellow Swiss feed producer utro Fikovit AG in a deal aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and competitiveness in the country’s compound feed industry.

The companies said the transaction will bring their operations together under the Granovit name. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

As part of the integration, utro Fikovit’s feed mill in Emmenbrücke is scheduled to close in October, with production transferred to Granovit’s facility in Kaiseraugst. 

The consolidation is expected to generate synergies, combine expertise and improve production efficiency.

No personnel changes are planned as part of the transaction.

Based in Rotkreuz, utro Fikovit manufactures livestock feed for pigs, cattle, horses, sheep, rabbits and poultry, alongside mineral products. Its owner, Josef Fischer, will join Granovit’s board of directors and remain involved in day-to-day operations.

Granovit, owned by Andreas Fischer, operates feed mills in Kaiseraugst, Lucens and Gossau.

Its product portfolio includes livestock feed, premixes, minerals, milk powder, pet food, zoo-animal feed and laboratory-animal feed.

The acquisition brings together two privately owned, owner-managed companies with established positions in Switzerland’s feed sector. 

The companies said the combination is intended to strengthen independent Swiss compound feed production while maintaining customer relationships and product quality.

“We share the conviction that long-term success is based on customer proximity, quality and entrepreneurial thinking,” the owners said.

“With this step, we are securing what has proven successful while simultaneously creating new perspectives for customers, employees and Swiss agriculture.”

The owners added that combining the companies’ capabilities would help them strengthen competitiveness and respond to the future needs of Swiss agriculture.

The integration will see Granovit absorb utro Fikovit’s production into its existing manufacturing network, while retaining its product range and operational expertise within the combined business.
