NOVUS launches new organic trace mineral for animal nutrition

USA – NOVUS has launched RELYZANT™ Bis-Chelated Trace Mineral, a new source of organic zinc, copper, and manganese designed to provide animal nutritionists with higher mineral concentration and greater formulation flexibility.

The next-generation bis-chelate is designed to maintain its stability across changes in pH in the animal’s gut and interactions with other dietary components. 

According to NOVUS, this helps make more of the mineral available to the animal.

RELYZANT™ is based on bis-chelated technology already used in the company’s MINTREX® Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals.

NOVUS said the new product expands access to the technology without the need for methionine.

“We developed RELYZANT™ in response to our customers’ needs,” said Abishek Shingote, NOVUS vice president of corporate strategy and innovation.

Shingote said MINTREX® has been supported by more than 500 research trials and was developed for diets that benefit from HMTBa, a methionine source. 

He added that customers increasingly prioritise mineral concentration and formulation flexibility.

“RELYZANT™ provides the same authentic bis-chelate protection and superior absorption without methionine,” Shingote said.

The product is available in zinc, copper and manganese, with each mineral bound by two lactic acid ligands. 

The resulting stable, neutral molecule is designed to protect the mineral as it moves through the digestive system.

According to NOVUS research scientist Tracy Rode, the higher mineral concentration gives nutritionists more space within feed formulations for other dietary components.

“RELYZANT™ delivers the same trusted performance as MINTREX® but with higher mineral concentration,” Rode said.

The launch adds another organic trace mineral option for animal feed manufacturers and nutritionists seeking to balance mineral supplementation with other formulation requirements.

RELYZANT™ is currently available in Mexico, with NOVUS planning to introduce the product in additional markets later in 2026.
