De Heus completes acquisition of CJ Feed & Care, expands in Asia

“By combining our expertise with CJ Feed & Care, we can help farmers boost efficiency, professionalism, and profitability,” said De Heus.

ASIA – Royal De Heus Group, a leading global animal feed manufacturer, finalised the acquisition of CJ Feed & Care from CJ Cheil Jedang, strengthening its footprint in established markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia, but also opening new opportunities in South Korea and the Philippines.

Through the acquisition, De Heus has added 17 feed mills and related livestock value-chain operations across the region.

“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our long-term strategy to strengthen our position in Asia,” said Gabor Fluit, CEO of De Heus Royal Group.

The integration of CJ Feed & Care’s operations will allow De Heus to expand its support for livestock farmers through advanced breeding stock, high-quality feed, and comprehensive services in nutrition, veterinary care, and financial solutions.

Partnerships with companies such as Topigs Norsvin, Bel Gà, Orvia, and Hung Nhon Group further strengthen the agro-food value chain, ensuring a stable supply of piglets, day-old chicks, and ducklings.

Strengthening livestock farming across Asia

The acquisition aligns with De Heus’s goal of supporting livestock farmers through sustainable, professionalised production.

“By combining CJ Feed & Care’s solid expertise and customer relationships with De Heus’s more than a century of experience in animal nutrition and farm management, we can drive growth and deliver even more value to farmers in the region,” said Mr Gabor Fluit, CEO of De Heus Royal Group.

De Heus emphasises connecting all partners across the animal protein value chain, from breeding stock to feed, farm management, and distribution.

The Group has invested in grandparent and great-grandparent pig and poultry farms across Asia, ensuring access to high-quality breeding stock.

These efforts aim to increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability for livestock farmers while supporting sustainable industry growth.

Vietnam remains a key market in this strategy.

“This important milestone further strengthens our commitment to supporting Vietnam’s rapidly developing livestock industry,” said Mr Johan van den Ban, General Manager of De Heus Vietnam & Asia.

He added that the acquisition will enhance De Heus’s ability to provide comprehensive, integrated solutions that cover quality feed, superior breeding stock, on-farm services, and financial support.

The Group’s ecosystem approach also extends to helping customers distribute livestock, eggs, fish, and dairy products to processing businesses, supported by innovative financial products developed in partnership with local banks.

Through this acquisition, De Heus strengthens its long-term strategy in Asia, combining local expertise with global experience to create distinctive value on every farm.

This move also marks CJ Cheil Jedang’s exit from the animal feed industry, ending decades of regional involvement.

CJ Cheil Jedang had been active in the feed sector for over 20 years, during which it built strong technical expertise, regional distribution networks, and partnerships with farmers that significantly boosted livestock productivity.

Their exit reflects a strategic shift to focus on other segments of their business while allowing De Heus to integrate these operations into its long-term growth strategy.
