Adisseo launches Sanion Tetra to support gut health and performance in swine and poultry

The product is positioned to help producers respond to global efforts to reduce antibiotic use.

FRANCE – Adisseo, one of the global leaders in amino acid balancing for dairy nutrition, has expanded its butyrate portfolio with the launch of Sanion Tetra 50 and Sanion Tetra 70, two high-concentration protected sodium butyrate additives designed for swine and poultry production.

The new products combine optimal concentration with advanced physical quality, offering feed manufacturers and nutritionists a reliable solution to support gut health and animal performance.

Sanion Tetra 50 and 70 contain 50% and 70% active sodium butyrate, respectively. Developed and produced in Adisseo’s own facilities using proprietary technology, the products are positioned as a smart balance between concentration and quality.

According to the company, this balance ensures consistent efficacy, formulation reliability, and efficient use of butyrate in feed applications.

Butyrate is widely recognised for its role in supporting intestinal health, particularly in young animals. Promoting gut integrity and improving nutrient absorption, it contributes to better growth performance and resilience.

Sanion Tetra aims to deliver these proven benefits in a format that is easier and safer to handle. The additives are engineered to be low-dust, free-flowing, and low-smelling, characteristics that address common operational challenges in feed mills.

The launch builds on Adisseo’s long-standing expertise in butyrate science. The company reports 35 years of experience in this field and inaugurated its first butyrate production facility in 2002.

Its research base includes 27 peer-reviewed scientific papers on exogenous butyrate in poultry and swine, reinforcing the technical foundation behind the new range.

Sanion Tetra forms part of Adisseo’s Animal Resilience portfolio, which focuses on nutrition-based solutions that support health and performance.

The product is positioned to help producers respond to global efforts to reduce antibiotic use and high dietary zinc oxide levels.

By strengthening gut health through targeted nutrition, protected butyrate solutions are increasingly viewed as practical tools in antibiotic reduction strategies.

Environmental considerations also feature prominently in the product’s design.

Adisseo states that Sanion Tetra minimises the use of palm-derived ingredients and relies on a production process that generates no steam or water waste, reducing its environmental footprint.

This eco-designed approach aligns with broader sustainability goals across the livestock value chain.

Beyond butyrate, Adisseo offers complementary nutritional technologies that can work alongside Sanion Tetra.

Alterion is a probiotic solution developed to stabilise gut microbiota and improve digestive efficiency in poultry.

By promoting a balanced intestinal environment, Alterion can enhance the conditions in which butyrate exerts its benefits, creating a synergistic effect on gut integrity and performance.

Similarly, Selisseo, the company’s hydroxy-selenomethionine-based selenium source, supports antioxidant status and immune function.

When combined with gut health solutions such as Sanion Tetra, selenium nutrition can further strengthen animal resilience, particularly under production stress.

Together, these technologies illustrate a broader shift toward integrated nutritional strategies that simultaneously target gut health, immunity, and performance.

With Sanion Tetra 50 and 70, Adisseo strengthens its position in the butyrate segment and reinforces its broader portfolio of functional feed additives.

As livestock producers continue to seek reliable, sustainable alternatives to traditional health-support tools, high-quality protected butyrate solutions are expected to play an increasingly important role in modern feed formulation.
