Its Illinois facility was established in 2022 through a partnership with ADM, one of the world’s leading agricultural processors.

The new Dahna Feed Mill has a capacity of 40 metric tons per hour and further reinforces Tanmiah’s vertically integrated operations.

The Spain facility is equipped with advanced fermentation and microbiology capabilities, along with new systems for studying monogastric digestion.

The announcement comes shortly after BASF completed the sale of its Food and Health Performance Ingredients business to Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC).

The company added that employees at the Joplin pet food sites will have opportunities at other General Mills pet food plants.

The deal includes 17 feed mills and is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals.

This comes on the heels of another major inauguration of an aquafeed plant by De Heus Uganda.

Stable inland ecosystems could help secure sustainable supplies of raw materials, such as fishmeal for the aquafeed industry.

The research announcement coincided with confirmation of a major new HPAI H5N1 outbreak in Jefferson County, Wisconsin involving more than 3 million birds. 

De Heus already operates a poultry feed factory in Attinguié, near Abidjan, which opened in 2023 with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons.
