SPAIN – Zinpro Corporation has announced the opening of a state-of-the-art innovation center in Spain, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to advance animal nutrition through science, collaboration, and sustainability.
The facility is designed to drive cutting-edge research into gastrointestinal health, rumen digestion, and the development of next-generation nutritional solutions for livestock, aquaculture, and companion animals.
The new hub joins Zinpro’s existing innovation center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, which opened in 2007, reinforcing the company’s global research capabilities.
As one of the world’s leading producers of high-performance organic trace minerals, Zinpro says the new center represents its continued investment in science-based innovation to improve animal performance and well-being.
“Our Spain innovation center is a direct reflection of our mission and core values,” said Rob Sheffer, President and CEO of Zinpro. “We want this to be our customers’ innovation center. By listening to their needs and working together, we can deliver products and services that truly make a difference. Great things happen when we partner together.”
A focus on gut health and sustainability
According to Zinpro, the Spain facility is equipped with advanced fermentation and microbiology capabilities, along with new systems for studying monogastric digestion.
The company emphasised that gastrointestinal research will be at the heart of the centre’s work, particularly studies on rumen digestion and product innovation, such as Zinpro® IsoFerm®, which enhances fibre and protein utilisation in ruminants.
In line with Zinpro’s sustainability commitments, researchers at the new facility are also developing strategies to optimise emissions from livestock and improve environmental efficiency across the animal nutrition industry.
The company said the goal is to deliver high-impact, science-backed solutions that support both productivity and environmental stewardship.
The centre’s collaborative structure is another defining feature. Designed to foster “cross-pollination of ideas,” the hub will bring together university researchers, industry partners, and Zinpro’s global team of scientists to translate research breakthroughs into real-world applications for farmers and feed producers.
Innovation from lab to field
The launch of the Spain innovation center follows another recent development from Zinpro: the July release of Zinpro® ProFusion® Paste, a new format of its proven nutritional supplement for beef cattle.
Designed to support immune function, recovery, and well-being during stressful periods such as weaning, shipping, and vaccination, the paste formulation delivers trace minerals and nutrients over several days.
“We developed Zinpro ProFusion Paste in direct response to feedback from producers who love the performance of Zinpro ProFusion Drench but wanted to have options when it came to the application method,” said Dr. Alex Thompson, North America Feedlot Business Manager at Zinpro.
“By delivering highly bioavailable trace minerals when beef cattle need them most, Zinpro ProFusion Paste helps beef cattle producers protect animal health, optimize productivity, and gain peace of mind during high-stress periods.”
The product is scientifically proven to improve trace mineral status within 48 hours of administration, offering benefits such as enhanced immune function, better vaccine response, reduced mortality, and improved artificial insemination success when used at CIDR placement.
For over five decades, Zinpro has been a pioneer in performance trace mineral research and animal nutrition innovation.
The privately held, family-owned company now operates in more than 70 countries and employs a global team of experts dedicated to improving animal health and productivity through better nutrition.
