Blossoming exports send Chinese aquafeed giant’s profits soaring

Haid Group projects its net profit attributable to shareholders will rise to between US$348.6 million and US$390.5 million in the first half of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 17.6% to 31.8%.

CHINA – Guangdong Haid Group Co., Ltd., China’s largest aquaculture feed producer, is forecasting a sharp increase in profits for the first half of 2025, fueled by surging export sales and expansion of its core feed business both domestically and abroad.

In a performance forecast released on July 9 via the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the company announced that it expects net profits attributable to shareholders to reach between CNY 2.5 billion and CNY 2.8 billion (approximately US$348.6 million –US$390.5 million), representing a year-on-year increase of 17.64% to 31.76%.

Haid’s total feed sales by volume jumped by approximately 26% in the first six months of the year, reaching 13.7 million metric tons. This represents a 2.84 million ton increase over the same period last year.

Of this growth, about 40% was attributed to the company’s overseas markets, underscoring Haid’s emphasis on international expansion.

The impressive performance was primarily driven by the expansion of its core feed business both domestically and internationally,” the company said in its statement. “In China, the company steadily improved feed production capacity utilisation and market share.

The company added that higher sales volumes helped boost operational efficiency and reduce marginal costs, further strengthening its competitiveness.

Global strategy pays off

Outside China, Haid capitalised on its established advantages in procurement, technology, and services, while customising its offerings to suit local farming conditions.

By empowering local farmers and actively expanding into new regions, the company maintained strong growth in both sales and profitability,” the statement noted.

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Haid Group employs over 40,000 staff across more than 600 branches and subsidiaries globally. It ranks 224th on the 2024 list of China’s top 500 enterprises and 84th among the top 500 private enterprises.

Haid’s operations span the entire agricultural value chain, from feed and seedlings to animal healthcare, intelligent farming, and food processing.

Its feed division, which includes products for aquaculture, poultry, livestock, ruminants, and pets, sold 26.52 million tonnes in 2024, surpassing the sales of any other feed company worldwide.

In addition, the company’s animal healthcare and vaccines segment is emerging as a new growth driver, offering a portfolio of biological vaccines, veterinary drugs, nutritional immunity products, and traditional Chinese medicine preparations developed at advanced R&D facilities across China.
