New format delivers science-backed, triple benefits and is available at pet speciality retailers beginning July 2026.

USA – Hill’s Pet Nutrition has entered the fast-growing fresh pet food market with the launch of Science Diet Single Protein Dog Food Rolls, expanding its science-based nutrition portfolio into the refrigerated category as demand for minimally processed pet foods continues to rise.
The products, which will be available at pet speciality retailers across the United States from July 2026, mark the company’s first refrigerated dog food offering and position Hill’s alongside brands that have driven growth in the premium fresh pet food segment.
The launch reflects changing consumer preferences, with more pet owners seeking fresh feeding options while continuing to value scientifically formulated nutrition.
“Fresh feeding has become a popular choice among select pet parents. At Hill’s, we wanted to offer those pet parents a choice backed by more than 75 years of scientific expertise,” said Rauf Gurbuz, U.S. President and General Manager at Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
The refrigerated range comprises three single-protein recipes: Chicken and Brown Rice, Beef and Carrot, and Lamb and Pumpkin.
Each product is gently steam-cooked and formulated to support digestive health, healthy skin and coat, and overall well-being in adult dogs.
According to Hill’s, the rolls can be fed as a complete diet or used as a topper or mix-in, offering greater flexibility for pet owners without requiring subscription-based purchases.
Expanding science-led nutrition
Hill’s said the new range builds on more than 75 years of research and product development, supported by a team of nearly 200 veterinarians, nutritionists and food scientists.
The company said its entry into refrigerated nutrition is intended to provide veterinarians with a science-backed, fresh-food option as interest in fresh diets continues to grow.
“The investment that Hill’s has made in refrigerated nutrition reflects not only our commitment to pet parents, but veterinarians, too,” said Dr Chelsie Estey, U.S. Chief Veterinary Officer at Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
“Veterinarians want to feel confident when recommending fresh food, and our Science Diet Single Protein Dog Food Rolls give them a science-backed option they can trust.”
The launch comes as premium and fresh pet foods continue to gain global market share, driven by growing consumer demand for high-quality, functional, and minimally processed nutrition.
By expanding into refrigerated products, Hill’s is strengthening its presence in one of the fastest-growing segments of the pet food industry while broadening its Science Diet portfolio beyond dry and canned formats.
