Sudharma Animal Nutrition targets African markets with cattle feed

The company is targeting African markets with its Sardar Cattle Feed range as part of its international expansion plans.

AFRICA – Sudharma Animal Nutrition Pvt. Ltd., an Indian manufacturer of formulated cattle and livestock feed, is targeting African markets as part of its international expansion plans, with the Indian livestock-nutrition company preparing to export its Sardar Cattle Feed range to the region.

The planned expansion would extend Sudharma’s livestock-nutrition business beyond India as the company develops its international distribution network and broadens its product portfolio.

The company has not specified which African markets it intends to enter or provided a timeline for the start of exports.

Sudharma traces its origins to 1984, when it operated as Shri Sudharma Industries, a family-run cattle-feed business founded by the late Shri Ramesh Goyal.

Over four decades, the business has developed from a cattle-feed enterprise into a broader animal-nutrition company operating under the Sardar Cattle Feed and Sudharma Feed brands.

Sudharma Animal Nutrition adopted its current corporate structure in 2026. Akshit Ram Goyal is managing director, while Savita Goyal and Isha Goyal serve as directors. Several generations of the Goyal family remain involved in the business.

Expanding livestock nutrition portfolio

The Sardar portfolio includes four cattle-feed products: Sardar Gold Line C-3000, Sardar Red Label C-5000, Sardar Energy+ C-8000 and Sardar Booster C-10000.

The company also produces buffalo feeds, including Sardar Buff Booster and Sardar Buff+, alongside mineral supplements Sardar Min Forte and Sardar Cal Forte.

Sudharma’s feeding guidance identifies protein, energy, fat, minerals and vitamins as key components of livestock nutrition.

It recommends combining concentrated feed with suitable green fodder or hay, with feeding requirements adjusted according to breed, age, body condition, milk production and lactation stage.

The company advises farmers to introduce its feed gradually over seven to 10 days when changing from another feed.

Sudharma manufactures its products at a facility in Village Kauri on G.T. Road near Khanna in Punjab. The company says ingredients are tested before processing and undergo quality-control analysis.

Production includes proportionate dosing, grinding, mixing, molasses, and pelleting, with finished products packed in HDPE bags.

Punjab remains a significant operating market, while Sudharma is developing a dealer and distributor network across other Indian states.

The company says long-term relationships with channel partners form part of its distribution strategy.

Building towards African markets

The planned African expansion is part of Sudharma’s broader international business strategy.

The company has identified exports of Sardar Cattle Feed to African markets and plans to expand its livestock-nutrition categories beyond cattle and buffalo.

Future product areas include nutrition products for goats and pigs, giving the company scope to build a broader livestock offering as it develops new markets.

Sudharma’s international plans follow more than four decades in the cattle-feed sector, during which the company says it has focused on balanced feed and dairy farmers’ nutritional needs.

The company’s historical recognitions include the Udyog Shree Award and Lok Shree Award in 1990 and the Udyog Rattan Award in 1993.
