Hendrix Genetics takes full ownership of swine business

NETHERLANDS – Hendrix Genetics has acquired full ownership of Hendrix Genetics Swine, bringing its global swine genetics activities under a fully integrated ownership structure nearly two years after the business was formed through the merger of Hypor and Danish Genetics.

Hendrix Genetics Swine was established through a joint venture between Hendrix Genetics and its Danish partners, combining the breeding, multiplication and distribution activities of Hypor and Danish Genetics within one swine organisation.

The move to full ownership marks the next stage in the integration of the swine business, with Hendrix Genetics saying the structure will provide greater clarity, speed and alignment across its operations.

A key milestone in the integration was the launch of Nexus 100 last year. 

The product was the first developed following the merger and combines the complementary strengths of the two breeding programmes.

“Since bringing together the expertise of Hypor and Danish Genetics, we have made significant progress in building a unified swine genetics business,” said Richard Maatman, CEO of Hendrix Genetics.

The company said its relationship with its Danish partners will continue following the ownership transition. 

Hendrix Genetics highlighted its farms, industry expertise, networks and long-term commitment as important to the continued development of the swine business.

The swine activities will now operate as the Swine Business Unit of Hendrix Genetics, making the business a fully integrated part of the company’s global multi-species organisation while retaining a dedicated focus on swine producers.

Dennis Jørgensen is now the Managing Director of the Swine Business Unit. 

He will lead the integrated organisation and oversee the continued development of the combined Hypor and Danish Genetics breeding programmes.

The company said the integrated structure will bring together its people, genetics programmes, production network and partnerships to support continued genetic progress for pork producers.

Hendrix Genetics said the Swine Business Unit will focus on helping producers respond to changing pork production challenges through sustainable genetic improvement.

The ownership change follows Hendrix Genetics’ broader integration of the two breeding businesses, with Nexus 100 providing an early example of the products and capabilities developed through the combination.

The company did not disclose financial details of the transaction.
