Kemin launches EDIE Generation 2 water disinfection system for livestock operations

In a separate development, AgroPlantae has acquired Kemin Industries’ crop technologies portfolio, expanding its offerings in plant nutrition and biological crop protection.

U.S.A – Kemin Industries has introduced EDIE™ Generation 2, an advanced water disinfection system designed to improve precision, automation and real-time monitoring in livestock and poultry production.

The system was unveiled at the Midwest Poultry Federation’s PEAK conference held April 14–16 in Minneapolis.

EDIE Generation 2 is built to manage chlorine dioxide dosing with minimal manual intervention.

It integrates automation, connectivity and monitoring into a single platform, giving producers greater control over water quality, an essential factor in animal health and feed efficiency.

“Water quality plays a critical role in animal health and operational productivity,” said Dillon Mellick, Business Manager, Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health, North America.

“With EDIE Generation 2, we are delivering connected intelligence that helps producers manage water disinfection more precisely, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.”

The system monitors chlorine dioxide levels directly in the water line, with optional tracking of pH and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP).

This enables real-time adjustments and more consistent disinfection performance.

Additional features include automated data logging, mobile app connectivity for remote monitoring, low-level chemical alerts and enhanced system protection controls.

The system also offers Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity and can be retrofitted into existing EDIE™ installations.

Kemin said the system is designed to work with its PRO-OXINE® AH disinfectant, creating a fully integrated solution for water and sanitation across drinking systems, equipment and production environments.

The launch reflects growing industry focus on water management as part of broader biosecurity strategies, particularly as producers look to optimise performance while reducing disease risks in intensive livestock systems.

AgroPlantae acquires Kemin crop technologies portfolio

In a separate development, AgroPlantae has acquired Kemin Industries’ crop technologies portfolio, expanding its offerings in plant nutrition and biological crop protection.

The acquisition includes a range of botanical-based biopesticides and soil health solutions developed for speciality crops and greenhouse production.

Product lines such as TetraCURB™, AlliCURB™ and Valena™ will now be integrated into AgroPlantae’s portfolio.

AgroPlantae said the move strengthens its position in sustainable crop inputs, particularly as demand grows for solutions that address soil health, climate stress and yield optimisation.

“Kemin’s crop technologies products… are an ideal addition to the AgroPlantae line of products,” said Angelo Paolucci.

As part of the transaction, Kemin’s crop technologies sales team will transition to AgroPlantae to ensure continuity of customer support, while product formulations, manufacturing processes and regulatory approvals will remain unchanged.

Chris Nelson said the transition aligns with both companies’ sustainability goals, noting confidence in AgroPlantae’s ability to continue developing science-based crop solutions.

The divestment allows Kemin to further focus on its core segments, including animal nutrition and health, while AgroPlantae expands its footprint in plant-based agricultural inputs.
