CANADA – Lallemand Animal Nutrition has unveiled an interactive educational program dedicated to ruminant digestive health, offering veterinarians, nutritionists, farmers, and advisers a science-backed platform to enhance animal welfare and productivity.
The initiative, launched under Lallemand Animal Nutrition Services, introduces the revamped ruminantdigestivesystem.com, a comprehensive learning hub designed to keep professionals at the forefront of ruminant health and nutrition.
The relaunch marks a significant expansion from the program’s earlier focus on rumen health to now encompass the entire ruminant digestive tract.
The upgraded site integrates interactive learning tools, multimedia content, and practical resources, bridging the gap between scientific research and on-farm application.
“The future of ruminant production lies in sustainable practices that support herd health naturally,” said Laurent Dussert, Global Category Manager for Ruminants at Lallemand Animal Nutrition.
“We’ve transformed years of research and field expertise into an accessible learning platform that equips professionals with practical strategies to optimize digestive health across the entire tract, helping reduce reliance on conventional treatments while maintaining strong animal welfare and performance.”
Comprehensive focus on the digestive tract
The educational content explores a broad range of topics, including the biology and interaction between the rumen and lower gut, support for dairy calves from birth through lactation, and the importance of maintaining a balanced microbiota.
It also examines challenges such as heat-stress-induced leaky gut syndrome and sub-acute ruminal acidosis (SARA), as well as the link between bovine respiratory disease (BRD) and lower gut health.
By combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications, the program aims to help professionals manage digestive health throughout all stages of ruminant development.
This holistic approach supports both improved herd performance and the long-term sustainability of livestock operations.
Collaborative learning for lasting impact
According to Dussert, the platform goes beyond traditional learning formats.
“This isn’t just about sharing information, it’s about building expertise together,” he said.
“Through this program, we’re creating opportunities for nutritionists, farmers, advisers, and veterinarians to deepen their understanding of the complete digestive tract and its impact on herd health. When professionals have access to science-backed education and resources, everyone benefits, from the nutritionist to the farmer to the animal.”
