ANDRITZ unveils ExMax S1021 extruder at Victam LatAm in Brazil

Victam LatAm drew over 8,000 visitors from 30 countries, more than 250 exhibitors, and 350 brands.

BRAZIL – International technology group ANDRITZ has launched its latest feed extrusion innovation, the ExMax S1021, at the Victam LatAm trade show in São Paulo, Brazil, held from September 16–18, 2025.

The extruder is designed to help producers deliver high-quality nutrition, improve food safety, and enhance operational efficiency, while cutting costs and minimising downtime in response to growing demand for sustainable pet food and aqua feed.

Developed in collaboration with industry manufacturers, the ExMax S1021 features a sanitary stainless-steel design and advanced automation for cleaner, more dependable operations.

At the heart of the system is the patented DensiFlex™ technology, which automates cooking and expansion to ensure consistent product quality, precise density control, and faster start-up and shutdown processes.

The ExMax S1021 is not just about capacity, it’s about giving producers greater control, cleaner operations, and consistently higher product quality,” said Danny Cummins, Head of Product Management at ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel.

Producers worldwide are under pressure to deliver safer, more sustainable feed at lower cost. This technology is designed to meet these demands and help them remain competitive in fast-growing markets like those in Latin America.

The machine also promises reduced operating expenses thanks to its energy-efficient drive system, fewer interruptions due to automatic adjustments and curved knife housing, and a longer service life supported by improved automation and maintenance features.

Innovation at Victam LatAm

ANDRITZ presented the new technology at Booth #4000 alongside its full-service support portfolio and automation solutions during Victam LatAm 2025, which drew over 8,000 visitors from 30 countries, more than 250 exhibitors, and 350 brands.

The event, in its second edition, ran parallel to the first Feed Formulation Latin America, an international congress dedicated to advances in feed technology, equipment, and ingredients.

The expectation for 2025 was to further strengthen connections between equipment manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and the animal nutrition industry in Latin America,” said Sebas van den Ende, general manager of VICTAM Corporation.

The goal was to create strategic connections between different markets and boost the animal nutrition sector in Latin America.”

The event also featured Grapas LatAm, focused on flour milling and grain handling, and a wide range of technical conferences.

Among the highlights was a roundtable hosted by the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), which addressed global standards for responsible soybean production, traceability, regenerative agriculture, and compliance with regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation.

Research, awards and market growth

Brazil’s agricultural research corporation Embrapa organised a major conference under the theme animal nutrition for sustainable and resilient systems, linking discussions to preparations for COP30, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held this November in Belém.

We wanted to show how research can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening sustainability in different production systems,” said Roberto Manolio Valladão Flores, coordinator and researcher at Embrapa Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The event also recognised innovation and best practices through its Feed Formulation Latin America Innovation Awards.

Winners included Gradefeeds (Benin) and IFF (Germany) for product innovation, while Grandfood (Brazil) won the Best Practice Feed Milling Award, with an honourable mention for C.Vale. In flour milling, Moinho Globo Alimentos (Brazil) took top honours.

The exhibition halls showcased the latest in feed and milling equipment, from extruders and mixers to silos, coolers, sensors, and automation software.

The pet food sector in particular stood out, reflecting its rapid market expansion with a strong focus on digestibility, functional additives, and extrusion technologies.
