Mavin Group breaks ground on feed and agricultural processing complex in Vietnam

The Mavin Mai Son Complex is expected to begin operations in 2026, bringing new products to market and contributing to both the province’s economic growth and Vietnam’s broader agricultural development strategy.

VIETNAM – Vietnam’s Mavin Group has officially broken ground on a new feed and agricultural processing complex in Son La Province, a project aimed at boosting sustainable agriculture and strengthening the company’s integrated value chain.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Mavin Mai Son Animal Feed and Agricultural Processing Complex took place on August 16, 2025, at Mai Son Industrial Park in Chieng Mung Commune.

Developed by Mavin Mai Son Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Mavin Group, the complex spans more than 109,500 square meters and carries a total investment of VND 350 billion (USD 13.30 million).

It will house two key facilities: a livestock and poultry feed mill with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons and an agricultural processing plant for crops such as corn and cassava, with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons.

The project has been designated a key initiative in celebration of the 16th Congress of the Son La Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term.

It is expected to increase the value of local agricultural products through deep processing, generate stable employment opportunities, enhance provincial budget revenues, and improve the agricultural trade balance.

The complex will also introduce international-standard processing technology to the province.

The Mavin Mai Son project marks the beginning of our expansion strategy in the Northwest,” said David John Whitehead, Chairman of Mavin Group.

We are determined to close the value chain from feed production to farming and processing, and we look forward to working with Son La Province to build it into the livestock hub of the Northwest.

Unlocking Son La’s agricultural potential

Son La Province has long been recognised for its fertile land and favourable climate for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture.

In recent years, its production of cattle, pigs, poultry, corn, and cassava has expanded, but much of this output remains in raw or minimally processed form.

The Mavin Mai Son project aims to bridge this gap by utilising local raw materials, employing modern processing technology, and establishing a closed supply chain within the province. By doing so, it seeks to add significant value to agricultural products and lay the foundation for Son La to emerge as a livestock and feed production hub.

Over two decades of integrated agriculture

Founded in 2004, Mavin Group is a Vietnam–Australia joint venture and one of the few agribusinesses in the country operating a fully integrated agricultural value chain, from feed production to farming, veterinary pharmaceuticals, and food processing.

With a network of factories, farms, research centers, and distribution systems across Vietnam, the company is positioned to meet both domestic and export demand.

Mavin’s strategic partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has provided access to global technology, advanced management practices, and sustainable development models that guide its large-scale investments.

Looking ahead, Mavin Group plans to build on the Mai Son project by investing in high-tech farming complexes, farmer partnership models, and food processing plants across Son La and neighbouring provinces.

The company envisions a modern and sustainable agricultural ecosystem that can serve as a blueprint for the future of livestock and food production in Vietnam.

The Mavin Mai Son Complex is expected to begin operations in 2026, bringing new products to market and contributing to both the province’s economic growth and Vietnam’s broader agricultural development strategy.
