The government has identified opportunities in feed production, poultry health, farm inputs and distribution.

Feed and grain groups will partner to connect members with courses, industry events and resources offered by each.

The facility will separate fresh grass into a protein-rich juice stream and a fibre-rich press cake.

The project supports agricultural and livestock value chains, including access to feed and other inputs.

The agreement spans feed, hatcheries, farming, processing, cold chain and distribution.

The company had previously announced plans to acquire 65% of EL.VI.Z, with a further 35% stake planned to be acquired within three years.

Companies can access nearly 16,000 tonnes of the country’s stored protein feed reserves from September 1, 2026, through February 2027.

The acquisition expands access to local grain and strengthens Kalmbach’s feed, pet food and ingredient operations.

The ambition highlights the need to strengthen Ethiopia’s local feed manufacturing capacity as poultry production expands.

The project was officially opened on August 5, with representatives from Imas attending the ceremony.
