Pet Fair Asia launches EcoPaws Asia sustainability programme ahead of 2026 edition

The initiative, developed with guidance from the Pet Sustainability Coalition, will debut at Pet Fair Asia 2026 in Shanghai this August.

CHINA – Pet Fair Asia has announced the launch of EcoPaws Asia, a new sustainability programme set to debut at Pet Fair Asia 2026, scheduled for August 19–23 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, as the event prepares for its largest edition to date.

The initiative is developed in partnership with the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC).

It is aligned with its sustainability standards and guidance framework, aiming to strengthen environmental performance and responsible production across the Asian pet industry.

EcoPaws Asia will highlight exhibitors whose products meet defined sustainability criteria, with companies assessed based on environmental performance, documented progress and supply chain responsibility.

Selected brands will receive “Must-Visit” booth designations and be featured in a dedicated EcoPaws Asia Showcase Area.

Pet Fair Asia is the largest pet industry exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the biggest global trade events in the sector.

Since its launch in 1997, the event has tracked the rapid expansion of China’s pet market while maintaining consistent year-on-year growth.

The 2026 edition will mark its 28th year and is expected to be its most expansive yet, welcoming a record number of exhibitors and visitors from China and around the world.

More than 2,600 exhibitors are expected to take part, showcasing the latest innovations in pet care, products and services across more than 320,000 square metres of exhibition space, exceeding the scale of previous editions.

Sustainability push aligns with industry growth at scale

Alongside the exhibition expansion, EcoPaws Asia will introduce business matchmaking sessions connecting buyers with sustainable solution providers.

In addition, there will be awards recognising environmental performance across the sector, and forums focused on sustainability challenges and opportunities.

China’s wider policy direction is reinforcing this shift, driven by national targets for carbon neutrality by 2060.

These goals are accelerating the adoption of green manufacturing, recyclable packaging, energy-efficient production, and responsible sourcing across various industries, including pet food and pet care.

Pet Fair Asia said the programme is designed to encourage measurable, science-based sustainability practices while supporting companies in adapting to evolving global market expectations.

“We recognise that sustainability is now a defining force in shaping the future of the pet industry,” said Aida Cuko, International Business Director at Pet Fair Asia Ltd.

“EcoPaws Asia reflects our commitment to supporting and amplifying these efforts, while ensuring sustainability is fully integrated into the industry’s growth story.”

She added that collaboration with PSC will help ensure the programme aligns with internationally recognised sustainability standards as it is introduced at the 2026 event.
