J-Six expands Fairview Mills with new animal protein blending facility

The facility is expected to begin operations in early Q3 2026.

USA – J-Six Enterprises is expanding the capabilities of its Fairview Mills subsidiary in the United States with a new facility aimed at strengthening its position in the animal protein, agricultural, and pet food ingredient markets, as demand grows for higher-specification, more consistent feed inputs.

The 63,000-square-foot animal protein meal refinement and blending facility is under construction in Falls City, Nebraska, and is expected to begin operations in early Q3 2026.

Once operational, it will create 8 to 10 full-time jobs, with about half of them salaried.

The expansion introduces a more controlled processing system for animal protein meals, incorporating foreign-matter removal, precision refinement, and custom blending technologies.

The facility is designed to produce protein meals with higher protein concentration, improved digestibility, and lower ash content than conventional offerings, particularly for premium pet food manufacturers and high-performance feed applications.

“This facility is designed for quality, consistency, and speed, with state-of-the-art, real-time ingredient analysis throughout the entire system,” said Troy Kramer, vice president of sales and business development.

“Our process enhances already premium ingredients from the animal and poultry food chains. We are excited to bring this much-needed service to the Heartland of the United States and pet food manufacturers nationwide.”

The company is also shifting toward a specification-driven production model, moving away from traditional availability-based sourcing.

This approach enables customised animal protein ingredients to be manufactured in accordance with defined physical and nutritional standards, aligning with growing industry demand for precision nutrition and tighter quality control across feed and pet food supply chains.

Founded more than five decades ago as a small livestock operation, J-Six Enterprises has grown into a diversified agricultural group with operations spanning milling, transportation, pet treat manufacturing, extrusion, contract packaging and ingredient solutions.

The Fairview Mills expansion further strengthens its role in value-added ingredient processing, particularly in the rapidly evolving protein meal segment.

Rising demand for precision protein ingredients

The investment reflects a broader shift in the global feed and pet food industries toward more refined, consistent protein ingredients.

Manufacturers are increasingly prioritising digestibility, nutrient standardisation and reduced variability as they seek to improve feed efficiency and meet stricter formulation requirements.

For Africa and the Middle East, where poultry, aquaculture and pet food production continue to expand, similar dynamics are emerging.

Demand for high-quality protein meals is rising as producers focus on improving performance and managing feed efficiency under tighter cost pressures.

The Nebraska facility highlights how advanced ingredient processing is becoming a key competitive factor in the global animal nutrition value chain.
