The partnership strengthens global supply of high-purity vitamins for vaccine and biologics manufacturing, with Brenntag extending the Biond portfolio across MEA and other major markets.

SWITZERLAND – dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has added a new capability to its Sustell environmental footprinting platform, allowing users to incorporate farm-level crop production data into feed and animal protein sustainability assessments.
The development addresses limitations in generic datasets and industry averages, which may not reflect the environmental impacts of individual crop supply chains.
With the new capability, Sustell users can integrate primary crop production data directly into feed formulations and animal farm footprint calculations.
This creates a connected approach to measuring environmental impacts from crop production through feed manufacturing and animal production.
Crop production can represent a significant share of the environmental footprint associated with animal protein.
Using primary data can therefore give producers and feed companies a more representative picture of their supply chain performance.
The capability supports Forests, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) reporting, allowing companies to incorporate primary crop and ingredient data into FLAG-aligned environmental assessments.
It is designed to help companies improve the accuracy and transparency of sustainability reporting while supporting requirements associated with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Dr David Nickell, global head of sustainability at dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health, said many sustainability assessments continue to rely on average crop data.
“By enabling companies to use their own production data, Sustell helps turn environmental measurement from an estimation exercise into a more accurate representation of real-world performance,” Nickell said.
The new capability can help users identify environmental hotspots and make more informed decisions on sustainability initiatives.
It is intended to support growing demand from customers, retailers and supply chains for credible environmental data.
Sustell provides life cycle assessment across crop production, feed manufacturing, animal production and processing, covering major farmed species.
The platform helps companies measure and manage environmental performance across the animal protein value chain, from crops and feed to farms and processing.
