CP Vietnam inaugurates US$66.3M shrimp feed plant in Ca Mau

VIETNAM – CP Livestock Corporation (CP Vietnam) has inaugurated a new aquaculture feed production plant in Ca Mau province, expanding its annual aquafeed manufacturing capacity to more than 650,000 tonnes as it seeks to strengthen feed supplies for Vietnam’s shrimp farming industry.

The new facility, located in Khanh An Industrial Park, represents an investment of VND1.725 trillion (US$66.3 million) and is CP Vietnam’s fourth aquaculture feed mill in the country after Dong Nai, Ben Tre and Can Tho.

Built on nearly 18 hectares, the plant has a designed production capacity of 124,800 tonnes per year and will manufacture key shrimp feed brands including Blanca, CP, Hi-Po, Hi-Gro, Lotus and Nasa for farmers in Ca Mau and the Mekong Delta.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau Province, Boonlap Watcharawanitchakul, Deputy General Director in charge of the aquaculture business at CP Vietnam, alongside representatives from government agencies, customers and industry partners.

The company said the new factory will improve access to high-quality shrimp feed by reducing transport distances to one of Vietnam’s largest shrimp-producing regions while enabling faster deliveries and technical support for farmers.

The facility incorporates automated production systems, including a SCADA monitoring and control platform that accurately measures raw materials, controls mixing parameters and helps maintain consistent product quality while improving manufacturing efficiency.

According to CP Vietnam, the feed products are manufactured under strict quality controls covering nutritional composition, water stability, particle size, moisture content, sinking characteristics and dust levels to support shrimp health, growth and survival.

“The inauguration of the plant not only marks the formation of another modern industrial production facility, but more importantly, adds a strategically significant link in the shrimp industry chain of Ca Mau province,” said Le Van Su.

“The plant will contribute to Ca Mau’s self-sufficiency in high-quality feed, helping reduce production costs, create more jobs and promote the development of processing and supporting industries.”

Investment supports Vietnam’s expanding shrimp industry

CP Vietnam said the new facility forms part of its strategy to support the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s aquaculture sector through increased investment in feed manufacturing, farmer training and technical services.

“CP Vietnam is always striving to accompany the sustainable development of Vietnam’s shrimp farming and aquaculture industry,” said Boonlap Watcharawanitchakul.

“We are increasing investment in modern factories while producing high-quality nutritional solutions and providing advanced aquaculture technical support to help shrimp farmers improve production efficiency, create stable income and ensure sustainable livelihoods.”

Beyond feed production, the company expects the plant to generate employment for nearly 200 workers while creating additional business opportunities for suppliers, logistics providers and other support services across the region.

The investment comes as shrimp production continues to grow in Ca Mau, one of Vietnam’s most important shrimp-producing provinces. 

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Processing and Export, the province is projected to produce 594,851 tonnes of shrimp in 2025, representing 101.9% of its production target and a 5.2% increase compared with 2024.

With the addition of the Ca Mau facility, CP Vietnam aims to improve the availability of high-quality shrimp feed, strengthen production efficiency in key farming regions and support the long-term competitiveness of Vietnam’s aquaculture industry.
