The partnership aims to help poultry producers track and lower their ecological impact using primary farm-level data.

GLOBAL – dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health’s environmental footprint platform Sustell® has partnered with poultry software provider PoultryPlan to help poultry producers track, manage, and reduce their environmental impact using primary farm-level data.
The collaboration is designed to make environmental footprinting more accessible and scalable for poultry farmers, enabling them to generate credible, ISO-assured emissions data while improving operational efficiency and sustainability performance across production systems.
The initiative responds to growing demand from retailers, food companies, and processors for accurate and regularly updated environmental footprint data, which is increasingly embedded in emissions reporting requirements across global food supply chains.
Through the partnership, farmers will be able to identify key emissions hotspots and implement targeted improvements such as feed optimisation and resource efficiency.
The system is also designed to help producers demonstrate measurable progress to downstream value chain partners, strengthening transparency and compliance with sustainability commitments.
All environmental footprint calculations are based on primary farm data, with data shared only under the explicit consent of the poultry farmer, ensuring full data ownership, control, and transparency.
Turning farm data into actionable sustainability insights
“Farmers are managing more data than ever, and sustainability shouldn’t add complexity to their operations,” said Theo Hoen, CEO of PoultryPlan.
“Through our partnership with Sustell®, we turn operational data into actionable insights, helping farmers reduce their environmental footprint while improving profitability.”
The partnership reflects a broader shift in the poultry and animal nutrition sectors toward data-driven sustainability tools that integrate directly into farm management systems, rather than relying on manual or fragmented reporting processes.
Sustell®, developed by dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health, is positioned as an industry-leading platform for environmental footprint calculation, supporting producers and supply chains in measuring and reducing emissions across livestock production.
Meeting rising supply chain sustainability requirements
The companies said the collaboration is intended to address the growing need for practical, scalable sustainability solutions based on farm-level data, as global food systems face stricter emissions monitoring and disclosure requirements.
“Providing the environmental footprint of poultry production to the downstream value chain has become a business necessity,” said Dr David Nickell, VP Sustainability & Business Solutions and Head of Sustell®.
“Our partnership with PoultryPlan enables farmers to generate accurate, credible footprints at scale and at ease across their operations, satisfying their customers while providing the necessary footprint insights to unlock additional value for their businesses.”
The partnership is expected to support poultry producers in aligning with sustainability targets while maintaining profitability, as pressure increases across the livestock sector to demonstrate verified environmental performance data from farm to fork.
