Eurofins, trinamiX expand mobile forage analysis across Europe

Enhanced NIR-based solution brings on-farm, real-time feed insights to more regions, supporting efficiency, animal health and cost optimization.

EUROPE – Eurofins Agro and trinamiX GmbH have expanded their joint mobile forage analysis offering across Europe, extending access to advanced near-infrared (NIR) feed evaluation directly on farms.

The upgraded solution is now available in additional key agricultural markets, including France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, building on its existing footprint across countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland.

The move significantly broadens access to real-time, on-site feed analysis for dairy and beef producers, enabling faster, data-driven decision-making.

At the core of the system is the trinamiX PAL Two spectrometer, which combines mobile NIR spectroscopy with Eurofins’ calibration expertise to deliver lab-grade insights directly in the field, at the silage clamp or within feeding areas.

This approach eliminates delays associated with traditional lab testing, allowing farmers to adjust rations and harvesting strategies instantly.

A key enhancement to the platform is the introduction of standardized energy values across all forage applications, effective from March 2026.

Energy content is a critical parameter in livestock nutrition, influencing milk yield, fertility and herd health in dairy operations, as well as growth rates, feed efficiency and carcass quality in beef production.

With consistent energy data available, farmers can more easily compare feed ingredients on a per-kilogram basis, optimize ration formulation and avoid over- or under-feeding.

This not only improves cost efficiency but also supports animal welfare and more sustainable resource use.

The partners have also expanded the system’s forage library to include alfalfa (lucerne) silage, a high-protein, energy-rich feed widely used in high-performance dairy systems.

The addition complements an existing portfolio that includes maize silage, corn cob mix, grass and clover silage, haylage, fresh grass and hay, providing a comprehensive toolkit for feed evaluation across diverse farming systems.

The rollout reflects growing demand for precision agriculture tools that enhance productivity while reducing environmental impact.

As feed costs continue to represent a significant share of livestock production expenses, technologies that improve feed efficiency and reduce waste are becoming increasingly valuable.

Across Europe, digital and sensor-based solutions are gaining traction in livestock farming, driven by the need for greater efficiency, traceability and sustainability.

Portable NIR technologies, in particular, are transforming how farmers analyze feed, shifting testing from central laboratories to real-time, on-site applications.

This transition is enabling more responsive farm management practices, helping producers adapt quickly to changing conditions and optimize performance.

With their expanded mobile forage analysis platform, Eurofins and trinamiX are positioning themselves at the forefront of this shift toward data-driven, precision livestock farming.
