These upgrades are expected to improve production speed, supply reliability and the development of locally adapted solutions for industries such as animal nutrition

LATIN AMERICA – IFF has expanded its regional production and innovation capabilities in Latin America with a new enzyme production hub in Argentina and a household care application laboratory in Brazil, strengthening support for the company’s Health & Biosciences (H&B) business across multiple industries, including animal nutrition.
The company said the investments build on more than four decades of industrial biotechnology experience and reinforce its long-term commitment to the Latin American market.
The expansion includes the transformation of IFF’s facility in Arroyito, Argentina, into the company’s first full fermentation-based enzyme production hub in the region.
At the same time, IFF opened a household care application laboratory at its Innovation Centre in Brazil.
Together, these upgrades are expected to improve production speed, supply reliability and the development of locally adapted solutions for industries such as animal nutrition, brewing, biofuels and home care.
“This is about turning science into impact where it matters most,” said Letícia Gonçalves, president of IFF Health & Biosciences.
“By bringing world-class fermentation and application capabilities to Latin America, we are accelerating innovation for our customers and translating that into better food, more effective cleaning solutions and everyday products that improve quality of life for millions of consumers across the region.”
The expansion in Arroyito will allow IFF to produce high-performance enzymes through controlled biological fermentation processes designed to deliver consistent performance under real manufacturing conditions while lowering environmental impact.
Previously, the site focused mainly on final processing and packaging steps.
With the upgrade, the facility will now produce enzymes locally from the initial biological fermentation stage.
According to IFF, this shift will improve performance reliability, increase processing efficiency and enable faster adjustments to changing customer requirements across several applications, including feed and industrial processing.
Complementing the Argentine investment, the new household care application laboratory in Brazil will allow customers to test and optimise enzyme performance under regional conditions.
The laboratory will primarily support product development for laundry and dishwashing solutions and will work closely with regional partners to accelerate innovation and product customisation.
“Latin America is a dynamic growth market for bioscience-enabled solutions,” said Deia Vilela, vice president for Latin America at IFF Health & Biosciences.
“What’s most exciting is how this momentum is being shaped through deeper partnerships with customers and teams across the region, creating a strong foundation for sustained innovation and shared growth in the years ahead.”
IFF said the investments reflect rising demand for biotechnology-based ingredients across sectors such as food, home care and animal nutrition, where enzyme solutions can help improve production efficiency, product performance and sustainability outcomes.
