ADM,Alltech launch Akralos joint venture to strengthen North American animal nutrition

The venture is majority-owned by Alltech and governed by a board with equal representation from both partners.

NORTH AMERICA — Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) and Alltech have officially launched Akralos, a North American animal feed joint venture aimed at strengthening operations, reducing costs and expanding nutrition solutions across the region.

The partnership, effective February 1, 2026, combines more than 160 years of expertise to deliver advanced feed solutions for livestock, equine, and specialty animal markets.

Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, Akralos integrates Alltech’s science-driven innovation with ADM’s scale and logistical strength to serve livestock, equine, backyard, and leisure animal markets across North America.

Consolidating Strengths

Under the agreement, Alltech contributes its U.S.-based Hubbard Feeds and Canada-based Masterfeeds businesses, including 18 feed mills in the United States and 15 in Canada. ADM adds 11 U.S. feed mills, creating an extensive manufacturing footprint supported by research and laboratory capabilities.

“Akralos brings together proven scale, innovation and infrastructure with a deep commitment to service and results,” said Brian Gier, Chief Executive Officer of Akralos. “From day one, our focus is on delivering nutrition our customers can rely on, support they can count on and partnerships that help their animals and businesses thrive.”

The venture aims to improve feed quality, consistency, and technical support, particularly for dairy producers seeking better animal health, higher milk yields, and stronger profitability.

Building on a long-standing partnership

ADM and Alltech’s relationship dates back to 1980, when ADM became Alltech’s first customer.

Akralos builds on this foundation, uniting complementary strengths under a single mission: to serve as an advanced nutrition partner delivering a competitive edge for producers, retailers, and animal owners.

“With the unique strengths and shared values of Alltech and ADM, we can deliver deeper expertise, broader support, and a stronger portfolio of nutrition solutions,” said Brad Dalke, Chief Operating Officer of Akralos.

Hubbard Feeds and Masterfeeds will remain Akralos’ core customer-facing brands, ensuring continuity while benefiting from shared resources and research.

“Our vision is to become the most trusted name in animal nutrition by delivering high-performance feeds and partnerships that drive results,” Gier added.
