Kormotech becomes first Fressnapf partner to launch in Romania

The partnership brings the total number of chains selling Kormotech brands in Romania to 11, significantly increasing nationwide availability across online and physical stores..

ROMANIA – Ukrainian pet food manufacturer, Kormotech, has entered the Romanian market as the first partner of the Fressnapf network, marking a significant expansion into Eastern Europe.

Under the new agreement, wet and dry diets from Kormotech’s Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, and Delickcious brands will be available in more than 30 Fressnapf stores and 11 Hornbach outlets, extending distribution across Romania and 15 other European countries.

The launches were implemented in partnership with Servicii Publice S.A., one of Romania’s leading veterinary product importers with over 30 years of local distribution experience.

“It is important to work with manufacturers who understand the needs of Romanian consumers and maintain a balance between quality and affordability,” said Sorina Radu, Head of the Pet Food Division at Servicii Publice S.A. “We see long‑term potential in this partnership, and the agreements with Fressnapf and Hornbach are a positive signal for future growth.”

Growth in the Romanian Market

In 2024, Kormotech sold 5,500 tonnes of cat and dog food in Romania, generating nearly US$10 million in sales.

Throughout 2025, the company expanded its presence by entering specialized pet retail chains such as Zoocenter, Zoomania (operated by Profipet), and Animax, Romania’s largest pet retailer with more than 100 outlets nationwide.

Kormotech products are also available through Sezamo (part of the Rohlik Group), eMAG (serving Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary), as well as grocery chains DCNeu Cash & Carry and Profi, specialized pet store group Maxi Pet, and DIY retailer Dedeman.

“Romania is a key market for us in Central and Eastern Europe, so we deliberately invest in a wide presence across different retail formats,” said Yuri Bykoriz, Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe at Kormotech. “Combining international and local chains, as well as offline and online channels, allows us to be closer to Romanian pet owners and build sustainable long‑term growth.”

Beyond Europe

Kormotech has accelerated international growth with several milestones in 2025 and 2026.

In 2025, the company entered Qatar and Nigeria, introducing its flagship Club 4 Paws brand to new consumer bases in the Middle East and Africa. Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest and fastest‑growing economies, represents a major opportunity for premium pet nutrition.

These moves expanded Kormotech’s reach to 46 countries worldwide, cementing its position among the top 50 global pet food producers.

In 2026, the company launched a global campaign, “Welcome to the Club,” aimed at building communities of responsible pet parents around its premium Club 4 Paws brand.

Today, Kormotech holds more than a third of its domestic market and supplies pet food across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. Its strategy blends geographic diversification, premium brand positioning, and operational scaling.
