The facility houses 15 silos, built in various configurations to meet the customers’ specific needs.

ITALY – Ocrim has finalised a new storage facility for Molino Rachello srl, a fifth-generation flour miller in Italy, designed to combine efficiency, robustness and a focus on ease of cleaning and maintenance.
The 2,600-tonne grain storage facility includes fifteen silos arranged in various configurations to meet operational needs.
The installation, which includes a mix of flat-bottom and conical-bottom silos designed for maximum operational flexibility, marks a major enhancement to the mill’s storage efficiency, sanitation standards, and long-term durability.
Designed to meet Molino Rachello’s specific product-handling needs, the new facility integrates multiple silo configurations to accommodate different types of silage products.
The conical-bottom silos allow for natural emptying without manual or mechanical intervention, while smooth, sheet-metal surfaces throughout the structure enhance product flow and minimise residue accumulation.
Flat-bottom silos complement this setup by providing additional versatility for a range of cereal grains.
Ocrim emphasised that every construction choice for the project was guided by sanitation and ease of maintenance.
The smooth surfaces limit product buildup, ensuring complete flow and reducing the need for downtime during cleaning operations.
These self-cleaning features are intended to support continuous production while meeting the stringent hygiene expectations of modern milling operations.
The project also underscores Ocrim’s ongoing expansion into the storage-systems segment, a strategy strengthened by its January 2024 acquisition of SIMA, a specialist in storage facility design and construction.
With SIMA’s expertise now integrated into its portfolio, Ocrim has broadened its capabilities and observed growing customer demand for full-chain solutions that include both milling and storage.
According to Ocrim, the engagement with Molino Rachello reflects the market’s increasing confidence in its expanded offering.
For the mill, this marks the first collaboration with Ocrim, laying the foundation for a partnership that could extend to future plant development and modernisation projects.
Gabriele Rachello, owner of Molino Rachello, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting the strategic value of dependable storage in safeguarding product quality and improving efficiency across the supply chain.
Ocrim CEO Alberto Antolini reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building resilient infrastructure for the milling sector.
“Every plant also carries a promise. That of being there, today and tomorrow, with the same care, the same expertise, and the same desire to build solid, safe, and long-lasting solutions,” he said.
