The People’s Choice Quality Award adds to Tunga Nutrition’s growing reputation as a trusted partner for livestock and aquaculture farmers in Uganda.

UGANDA – Tunga Nutrition (U) Ltd, a joint venture between Nutreco International and Unga Group Plc, has been honoured with the People’s Choice Quality Award for its flagship Hendrix brand for the fifth consecutive year.
The award was announced this week in Kampala, marking yet another milestone for the animal feed manufacturer that has rapidly established itself as a leader in Uganda’s livestock nutrition sector.
The accolade, voted for by consumers, underscores Tunga Nutrition’s consistency in delivering quality and science-driven feed solutions to farmers across the country.
“We are humbled and honoured to receive the People’s Choice Quality Award for Hendrix for the 5th year in a row,” the company stated on LinkedIn. “This achievement is a celebration of our teams who perfect every detail, and our farmers and partners who make Hendrix their choice for quality nutrition.”
Commitment to Farmers and Innovation
General Manager Patrick Gathara Waihenya expressed pride in the recognition and reiterated the company’s pledge to maintain high standards.
“Our commitment as Tunga Nutrition Uganda is to maintain those quality standards to become better and grow together with all our stakeholders to get the most out of our feeds,” he said.
Tunga Nutrition has distinguished itself by focusing on scientific nutritional innovation, ensuring that farmers receive products that support optimal growth and productivity.
The company emphasises that its mission goes beyond producing feed; it is about fueling farmer success through consistency, care, and innovation.
Transforming Uganda’s Feed Sector
Since its establishment in March 2022, Tunga Nutrition has invested heavily in Uganda’s feed industry.
In February 2024, it launched a modern feed facility in Kampala, converted from a dormant flour mill with an investment of approximately US$6 million.
The plant, which can produce up to 150 metric tons of feed per day, sources raw materials like maize and soya locally, working directly with farmer groups to strengthen the value chain and enhance affordability.
By cutting reliance on imports and intermediaries, the company has reduced feed concentrate prices by around 15% since production began, while improving product availability in the market.
