Technologies implemented on site include automated bag check weighing, ultra-low tolerance mixing and dosing systems and full automation throughout all production lines.

USA – Cargill’s Animal Nutrition and Health business has opened a new retail feed facility in Granger, Washington, marking a major investment in the Pacific Northwest that expands the company’s ability to serve agricultural retailers and livestock producers across the region.
The newly constructed facility represents a modernisation of feed production, equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
It will produce and package up to 120,000 tonnes of animal feed annually while creating 21 new jobs for the local community.
Advanced technology and sustainable practices
The Granger facility incorporates some of Cargill’s most advanced systems, including automated bag check weighing, ultra-low tolerance mixing and dosing, AI-based bag sealing assurance, pedestrian-sensing powered equipment, and full automation across all production lines.
These enhancements are intended to ensure precision, safety, and consistency in feed production.
Beyond efficiency, the site is also designed to reduce environmental impact. By eliminating roughly two million truck miles and 5,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, Cargill says the operation demonstrates its commitment to more sustainable supply chains.
Phil Graham, managing director of Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health North America, said the investment was driven by demand.
“We are excited to see this new facility opened and operational at full capacity. Our presence in Granger is in response to the growing demand for animal feed in the west, as the trend of ranching and farming continues to rise. We look forward to partnering with current and future ag retailers as the industry continues to grow.”
Serving multiple species and trusted brands
The facility will manufacture a diverse range of feeds in meals, pellets, crumbles, grains, textured, and blended forms.
It will cater to multiple species, including equine, poultry, sheep, rabbits, and wildlife, while supplying leading Cargill brands such as Nutrena, Loyall Life, Black Gold, SafeChoice, NatureWise, and Nature’s Canvas.
Mark Schmitt, president and CEO of D&B Supply, praised Cargill’s investment. “This new facility in Granger isn’t just an investment in infrastructure; it’s an investment in our future. It strengthens our ability to serve the Pacific Northwest, supports our business growth, and reflects the kind of collaboration that has defined our relationship with Cargill for years. We’re proud to stand with them on this milestone.”
The facility sits alongside Cargill’s existing bulk dairy feed mill in Granger and includes pellet mills, packaging lines, warehouse space, offices, and amenities for employees.
Expansion continues in Brazil
In addition to its U.S. investment, earlier this month, Cargill also made a binding offer to acquire Brazilian animal nutrition company Mig-Plus, a family-owned business founded in 1991.
Based in Casca, Rio Grande do Sul, Mig-Plus operates two production facilities, employs about 450 people, and specialises in premixes, concentrates, and complete feeds for swine and ruminants.
The acquisition, still subject to approval by Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), underscores Cargill’s strategy to expand its footprint in South America’s vital livestock sector.
By positioning closer to producers in one of Brazil’s most important swine production regions, Cargill aims to strengthen its service offering and accelerate growth in the market.
