Trouw Nutrition names new North America Managing Director

The leadership transition signals a renewed emphasis on combining strategic growth with sustainability, ensuring that farmers have the tools, science, and support needed to thrive in a changing agricultural landscape.

CANADA – Trouw Nutrition has appointed Anand Sundaresan as Managing Director for North America, marking a strategic leadership shift aimed at strengthening the company’s commitment to sustainable, science-based animal nutrition.

The Nutreco-owned company, with operations in 105 countries, announced Sundaresan’s appointment this week, highlighting his extensive global leadership experience in chemicals, life sciences, and agriculture.

He has held senior roles at Green Plains Inc, DSM-Firmenich, and Dow Chemicals, where he led transformative initiatives across North America and Asia-Pacific.

At Trouw Nutrition, we are committed to our purpose of Feeding the Future—and Anand’s strategic vision and people-first leadership will be instrumental in driving our mission forward,” the company said.

Canadian operations built on integration

Trouw Nutrition Canada was established in 2017 following the integration of Shur-Gain, Landmark Feeds, Hi-Pro Feeds, and Nutreco’s animal nutrition businesses in Canada.

Today, it employs 1,450 professionals across the country, including nutrition advisors, nutritionists, technical specialists, customer service representatives, and operations staff.

The company’s approach blends global research with local expertise, delivering practical farm management and nutrition solutions for Canadian livestock and poultry producers. Its programs, such as LifeStart and Healthy Life, promote animal well-being, disease prevention, and sustainable precision farming.

New state-of-the-art feed mill

In September 2024, Trouw Nutrition North America celebrated a major milestone with the grand opening of its largest feed mill in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

The facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to enhance efficiency and sustainability, reflecting the company’s forward-looking vision.

The mill increases production capacity by 50% while reducing CO₂ boiler energy consumption by 20%, positioning it as a benchmark for sustainable feed manufacturing in the region.

With Sundaresan now at the helm, Trouw Nutrition North America is expected to build on these achievements, focusing on innovation, customer partnerships, and environmental responsibility.

The company’s product portfolio in Canada includes well-known brands such as Equiline, Hi-Pro Feeds, Homestead, Selko Feed Additives, Shur-Gain Feeds, Step Right, and Young Animal Feeds.

As Trouw Nutrition navigates evolving industry demands, the leadership transition signals a renewed emphasis on combining strategic growth with sustainability, ensuring that farmers have the tools, science, and support needed to thrive in a changing agricultural landscape.
