USA – Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside the U.S. and Canada, has announced the commercial launch of ARMATREX™, a new spray-on antimicrobial solution designed to provide long-lasting protection against bacteria, fungi, mould, and algae.
The product, now available for purchase in the United States, is being marketed and sold by Merck Animal Health through a new partnership with Good Salt™ Life LLC, the original manufacturer of ARMATREX.
This collaboration brings together Merck’s vast distribution network and Good Salt Life’s proprietary formulation technology to meet the growing need for robust biosecurity tools in animal care.
ARMATREX is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered solution made with silane quaternary ammonium salt.
Odorless, colorless, and non-toxic, it creates an invisible and durable antimicrobial barrier that provides up to 90 days of protection on treated surfaces.
The product enhances existing sanitation efforts when used alongside traditional cleaning and disinfection protocols.
“The importance of biosecurity and protecting animals and property from disease spread is a top concern for consumers and producers alike,” said Dr. Justin Welsh, executive director of livestock technical services at Merck Animal Health.
“Directly aligned with our strategy of prevention, we are excited to partner with Good Salt Life LLC to provide this innovative product because biosecurity and pathogen control are essential parts of the food supply chain.”
ARMATREX is offered in ready-to-use 1-gallon, 5-gallon, and 55-gallon containers and is available directly from Merck Animal Health or its distribution partners.
The formulation requires no mixing or measuring and can be applied using induction-charged technology, which ensures even surface coverage while minimising waste.
No risk of microbial adaptation
Critically, the product does not induce microbial adaptation, resistance, or mutation, offering a sustainable solution for long-term use.
Adrian Fulle, president and CEO of Good Salt Life, emphasised the practical benefits of the new product.
“Keeping animals healthy starts with maintaining clean environments. That’s really what this partnership is about,” he said.
“ARMATREX gives producers and other animal health stakeholders an easy-to-use tool that works long after it’s applied. We’re excited to work with Merck Animal Health to provide this technology to market and help improve biosecurity across animal health facilities.”
ARMATREX is designed for use in a variety of settings, from large-scale livestock operations to veterinary clinics and animal shelters, making it a versatile addition to modern biosecurity programs.
“ARMATREX can be used in a variety of animal health settings to meet various biosecurity needs,” added Welsh.
Alongside ARMATREX, Good Salt Life also provides advanced chemical delivery systems that enhance application efficiency and efficacy.
These systems are engineered to ensure thorough surface treatment, further reducing waste and contributing to more effective pathogen control.
