Mowi, Innovasea strengthen global partnership with renewed agreement

NORWAY – Mowi, the world’s largest farmed salmon producer, and Innovasea, the leading aquaculture solutions provider, have renewed their global framework agreement, marking a significant step forward in their collaborative efforts to advance precision aquaculture. 

The agreement, signed on December 4, 2024, designates Innovasea as Mowi’s preferred vendor for environmental monitoring equipment and software across all its sites.  

This partnership continues their successful collaboration under Mowi’s 4.0 Smart Farming initiative, which focuses on leveraging data-driven technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability in salmon farming. 

Innovasea’s cutting-edge environmental monitoring systems, already implemented at numerous Mowi sites, provide real-time data on critical environmental parameters, including dissolved oxygen levels, salinity, and temperature.  

These insights are delivered to Innovasea’s cloud-based Realfish Pro platform, enabling operators to monitor water quality, receive instant alerts about deteriorating conditions, and make proactive decisions. 

“We are thrilled to build upon our successful partnership with Mowi as they lead the industry with effective, data-driven techniques,” said Tim Stone, Innovasea’s Vice President. “This agreement allows us to help Mowi optimise their operations with sustainable and efficient practices.”  

For Mowi, the partnership represents an opportunity to deepen its understanding of site and pen conditions. 

“Continuous information about the living environment for our fish is essential for maintaining fish welfare and making swift, informed decisions,” explained Henrik Trengereid, Mowi’s Group Manager for Seawater Production Technology. 

He added that the collaboration has already yielded valuable insights, enabling improvements in site management and fish welfare.  

Innovasea’s technologies also integrate seamlessly with Mowi’s analytical platform, MowInsight, allowing the company to contextualise data and enhance daily operations. 

Arnt Mjøen, Mowi’s Group IT Manager for Feed and Farming, emphasised the importance of innovation in overcoming environmental and operational challenges, crediting Innovasea’s solutions for their efficiency and ease of use.  

As Mowi expands the deployment of Innovasea’s environmental sensors and systems, it aims to achieve even greater precision in managing its farming environments. 

The partnership aligns with Mowi’s commitment to sustainability and maintaining its position as an industry leader.
