Nicovita strengthens Ecuador’s shrimp industry with advanced new feed facility

ECUADOR – Nicovita, a brand under Vitapro, has opened a new state-of-the-art feed production facility designed to meet shrimp farmers’ unique and evolving demands and reinforce Ecuador’s shrimp industry.

This facility, equipped with cutting-edge technology and extensive digitalisation, joins a network of three facilities in the Andean region dedicated to Ecuador.

It underscores Nicovita’s commitment to providing versatile and sustainable feed solutions tailored to a dynamic market.

According to Fabricio Vargas, CEO of Vitapro, the investment represents a commitment to the industry’s future resilience.

In the toughest times, we must invest even more. Our vision is clear: strengthening our presence and capacity in Ecuador is a solid step to keep driving the transformation and long-term sustainability of the sector,” Vargas noted.

This expansion is part of Vitapro’s broader strategy to consolidate its position in the region while fostering technological and sustainable advances in aquaculture.

Nicovita’s Ecuadorian facility is among the most technologically advanced shrimp feed manufacturing plants, integrating artificial intelligence to develop precision-tailored nutritional solutions.

This allows Nicovita to adapt feed compositions according to specific regional conditions and changing demands, supporting farmers with custom, nutrient-rich diets that boost shrimp growth and health.

The facility joins Vitapro’s network across Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, and Chile, which includes Aquaculture Experimental Centers (CEAs) focused on innovation in product development and sustainable practices.

This infrastructure enables Nicovita to lead the region in new ingredient exploration and implement sustainable methods that benefit shrimp farmers and the environment.

Key industry figures, including representatives from the National Chamber of Aquaculture and executives from Alicorp, attended the launch event.

It also marked Vitapro’s decision to relocate its corporate headquarters to Ecuador, placing leadership close to the heart of the country’s aquaculture sector.

Fabricio Vargas, now leading the company from Ecuador, brings over 15 years of industry experience and is committed to agile decision-making and sustainable growth.

Nicovita expressed that this investment strengthens its role as a critical partner for Ecuadorian shrimp producers, offering efficient, tailored nutritional solutions.

By enhancing its production capacity, Nicovita reaffirms its dedication to supporting the sustainable development of Ecuador’s shrimp sector and maintaining its global market leadership.
