Vitapro invests US$2M in logistics and sustainability in aquaculture industry

ECUADOR – Vitapro has announced a significant investment exceeding US$2 million in its Nicovita shrimp feed plant in Guayas province, Ecuador, to enhance the efficiency and traceability of its supply chain. 

According to a statement, the first phase of this improvement included inventory management software, which, together with an optimized rack system, achieves better results with fewer resources. 

This investment aligns with Vitapro’s long-term commitment to operational excellence and sustainability within the aquaculture industry.

Key to this initiative is the implementation of advanced inventory management software, which, when combined with an optimized racking system, allows the company to achieve better results with fewer resources. 

This system maximizes storage capacity and streamlines operations, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the supply chain.

Recognizing the critical role of its workforce, Vitapro has also invested in specialized training programs focused on process improvement. 

The company, which has around 1,100 employees, ensures exceptional operational performance and customer service continuity by equipping its employees with advanced skills and knowledge. 

Furthermore, Vitapro’s development of a world-class distribution centre incorporating cutting-edge technologies positions it as a leader in the industry.

In a move toward green logistics, Vitapro plans to reduce its carbon footprint by transitioning from fuel-powered forklifts to electric ones, targeting a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions. 

This step reinforces the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sets new industry standards for sustainability.

Diego Viera, Vitapro’s Logistics Manager for Ecuador and Peru, emphasized the broader impact of these innovations, stating, “With these innovations, Vitapro not only enhances the efficiency of its operations but also raises the service standard across the entire aquaculture industry.
