Tunisia gears up to host Aquaculture Africa 2024

TUNISIA – Tunisia will host the eagerly anticipated third Annual International Conference and Exposition of the African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (AFRAQ2024) from November 19 to 22, 2024.

This year’s “Blue Farming: New Horizons for Economic Growth” event is expected to draw over a thousand participants from across Africa and the globe.

It will emphasize the critical role of aquaculture in fostering economic development on the continent.

Preparations for AFRAQ2024 are in full swing following the signing of a hosting agreement by Tunisia’s National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM) on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries.

This agreement underscores the Tunisian government’s robust support for the event, ensuring a successful collaboration with the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) for its execution.

In addition to governmental support, leading Tunisian aquaculture companies have also pledged their backing for AFRAQ2024.

Notably, Nutrifish, a prominent aquafeed manufacturer, and the event’s Gold Sponsor will play a central role.

Nutrifish operates a state-of-the-art aquafeed mill with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes, underscoring its significant contribution to the region’s aquaculture industry.

These companies will sponsor the event and offer exclusive tours of their offshore seabream and seabass farming operations in the Mediterranean, giving participants a firsthand look at the latest advancements in sustainable aquaculture practices.

The conference will feature diverse activities designed to connect the global aquaculture community.

Attendees can expect a scientific forum with oral and poster presentations, a trade exhibition, industry forums, satellite workshops, student events, and guided tours of local aquaculture farms.

These activities aim to showcase the latest research, innovations, and investment opportunities in aquaculture, particularly those that can drive Africa’s growth.

AFRAQ2024 promises to be more than a conference; it is a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration.

It promises to bring together experts, researchers, industry leaders, and investors to discuss the future of aquaculture in Africa and explore new horizons for economic growth.
