Skretting Vietnam launches aquaculture feed validation farm

The new facility will give Skretting a dedicated platform to validate feed innovations across fish and shrimp production.

VIETNAM – Skretting Vietnam has soft-launched a new Aquaculture Feed Validation Farm to strengthen product validation and research across fish and shrimp production, creating a platform that could support innovation in Vietnam, Southeast Asia and Skretting’s wider global network.

Alex Obach, Innovation Director at Skretting AI Global, marked the launch during a visit to Vietnam, where he toured the facility alongside Michael Leger, Technical Director at Skretting Vietnam, and Kunal Choudhary, General Manager at Skretting India.

Obach explored the farm’s facilities, production models and validation activities during the visit.

He also assessed the space, equipment and technical infrastructure that Skretting Vietnam is developing to support product validation and research.

Skretting is developing the Validation Farm as a structured environment for research and product validation.

The facility will allow the company to conduct trials in a rigorous and practical setting, helping bridge the gap between research and innovations that can reach commercial aquaculture.

The farm can support validation activities across different aquaculture species, including shrimp and fish.

This capacity could allow the facility to contribute to Skretting’s activities beyond Vietnam, supporting aquaculture research across Southeast Asia and the company’s wider global innovation network.

The new facility adds another research and validation capability to Skretting’s operations in Vietnam.

The company operates two aquafeed factories in Long An, where it produces feed for the domestic market and major aquaculture operations across the region.

Its Lotus II fish feed factory, which opened in 2022 following a US$24 million investment, has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes.

Skretting Vietnam has also continued to develop research and technical programmes for local aquaculture producers.

In 2025, the company integrated insect protein meal into commercial shrimp feeds, with its R&D and technical teams validating growth performance and feed efficiency in balanced formulations.

Obach marked the Validation Farm’s soft launch by placing the first signature at the facility, signalling the start of its next phase.

The farm will give Skretting a dedicated platform to conduct practical feed research and validate new solutions, supporting the development of aquaculture nutrition technologies for Vietnam and potentially wider markets.
