The range is designed to support specific health conditions while addressing the growing demand for fresh feeding options.

USA – Royal Canin has launched its first Fresh Veterinary Diets portfolio in the United States, expanding its therapeutic pet nutrition range with fully cooked fresh diets developed exclusively for veterinary prescription.
The launch comes as demand grows for fresh pet food options that combine clinical nutrition with owner feeding preferences.
Available only through veterinarians and veterinary pharmacy partners, the new range is formulated to support dogs with specific health conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, food sensitivities and reduced appetite.
The company said the products deliver complete and balanced nutrition while maintaining the scientific precision expected from Royal Canin’s veterinary portfolio.
“Nutrition is one of the most powerful tools we have to support dogs managing chronic illnesses,” said Dr Brent Mayabb, Global Chief Medical Officer at Royal Canin.
“When it comes to choosing diets, pet owners want to have options that align with their preferences.
Our new Fresh Veterinary Diets give veterinarians a highly effective, science-backed fresh diet that bridges what owners want to feed with delivering the precise therapeutic nutrition their dogs need.”
The portfolio includes Gastrointestinal Low Fat, described as the brand’s lowest-fat fresh formula for dogs requiring fat-restricted diets.
Selected Protein Pork is a single-animal-protein diet developed for dogs with food sensitivities.
Appetite Stimulation is a nutrient-dense formula designed for dogs experiencing reduced appetite, illness recovery or unintended weight loss.
Royal Canin said the launch reflects changing consumer preferences, with more pet owners seeking fresh feeding options while still relying on veterinary guidance to manage chronic health conditions.
Veterinary nutrition remains a strategic focus
The introduction of the fresh therapeutic range follows Royal Canin’s continued investment in its veterinary business.
Earlier this year, the company appointed Jennifer Cullen as General Manager of its U.S. Veterinary Business Unit for North America, reinforcing its focus on expanding therapeutic nutrition through stronger veterinary partnerships and product innovation.
Cullen, who joined Royal Canin from Kenvue, brings extensive commercial leadership experience from both Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson, where she held senior sales and marketing roles, including Vice President of the Self Care division.
“Veterinarians are having more conversations than ever with pet owners about fresh feeding approaches, particularly when managing a dog’s health condition,” Cullen said.
“Royal Canin Fresh Veterinary Diets give veterinary professionals new therapeutic options that combine the fresh, fully cooked format pet owners are seeking with the nutritional precision and scientific expertise that defines Royal Canin.”
According to Royal Canin, the launch also aligns with growing recognition of nutrition as an essential component of veterinary medicine.
The company noted that recent American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) consensus guidance on chronic inflammatory enteropathy in dogs highlights complete dietary treatment trials as an important part of diagnosis and long-term disease management.
Owned by Mars, Incorporated, Royal Canin continues to expand its therapeutic nutrition portfolio through science-backed product innovation.
The move comes as the global pet food industry increasingly focuses on condition-specific diets that address the growing incidence of chronic health conditions in companion animals while meeting consumer demand for fresh nutrition.
