Amandus Kahl marks 150 years with investment in feed processing technology

GERMANY – Amandus Kahl celebrated its 150th anniversary in Reinbek, Germany, from September 3-5, 2026, highlighting its feed processing technologies and plans to invest more than €10 million (approximately US$11.6 million) in a new technical centre.

The anniversary ceremony on September 4 brought together more than 250 guests from politics, business, industry and the company’s international customer and partner network. 

Held under the motto “150 Years of Innovation – Tradition with a Future”, the celebrations focused on engineering expertise, digitalisation, automation and data-supported process solutions.

Founded in Hamburg in 1876 as Wendte & Kahl, the company has grown into an international manufacturer of machinery and process plants, with a strong focus on pelletising and process technology for the compound feed industry. 

Its portfolio includes flat-die pellet mills, expanders, extruders, pan grinder mills, crushing roller mills, dryers, coolers and fluidised bed plants.

Pelletising remains central to Amandus Kahl’s feed processing business. 

Its flat-die pellet mill is a core product, while the KAHL Expander has been used in feed processing for more than 30 years.

Investment in Reinbek operations

The company used the anniversary to highlight continued investment in its Reinbek site, including plans for a new technical centre costing more than €10 million (approximately US$11.6 million).

“We are committed to Germany as a manufacturing location and continue to invest in Reinbek, including in a new technical centre costing over ten million euros. Our personal relationship with our customers remains a constant,” said Joachim Behrmann, spokesperson for the company’s management.

Dr Victoria Behrmann, managing director of Amandus Kahl, said the company’s history reflected its ability to adapt established capabilities to changing needs.

“What sets us apart is our combination of process engineering expertise with a network of complementary sister companies. Together, we achieve more than we could alone,” she said.

Amandus Kahl is the flagship company of the KAHL Group, which comprises nine businesses and employs approximately 900 people.

The anniversary programme began with a “Visions & Solutions Day” on September 3, bringing together international company representatives and employees to discuss technical developments and new applications. 

The official ceremony followed on September 4, with an employee and family celebration concluding the events on September 5.
