Rumin8 acquires Roam to accelerate global cattle methane-cutting technologies

Neither of the parties has revealed the financial terms of the transaction yet.

AUSTRALIA – Rumin8, a Perth-based climate-tech company developing affordable feed and water supplements to reduce methane emissions from livestock, has acquired Roam Agricultural, a subsidiary spun out of Loam Bio Pty Ltd that specialises in methane abatement solutions for cattle.

The deal, announced on 3 December 2025, positions Rumin8 to expand and fast-track a broader suite of technologies targeting one of agriculture’s most persistent climate challenges.

Rumin8 CEO David Messina said the acquisition strengthens the company’s existing development pipeline and widens its product range for different production systems around the world.

Roam has focused on the same active ingredient as Rumin8 and has developed delivery formats that expand our portfolio to reach production systems that can benefit from an extended-release profile,” he said.

Roam’s work centres on tribromomethane (TBM), recognised as one of the most effective actives for methane reduction in livestock.

The company began with a fungi-based method for TBM production before moving to synthesised TBM and experimenting with alternative manufacturing processes.

Rumin8 said bringing this technology in-house broadens its formats to include feed granules, drinking-water additives, and sustained-release solid forms such as mineral mixes and boluses.

Messina added that Rumin8’s existing expertise offers a pathway to accelerate Roam’s innovations.

Using our own experiences and technical expertise, we can accelerate the commercialization of Roam’s development portfolio,” he said, noting that Rumin8’s manufacturing partners can help move these products into formal testing, regulatory assessment, and eventual commercial rollout.

The acquisition also supports growing industry interest in monetising carbon reduction across cattle operations.

Strengthening the road to market

Roam Agricultural CEO Derek Peterson said the decision to join Rumin8 was strategic, citing the company’s traction in product development and its clear route toward commercialisation.

Roam’s technological advancements are a perfect complement to Rumin8’s existing suite of products,” Peterson said. “Rumin8 has already made significant traction on the path to commercialisation, and it makes perfect sense to pass the baton to a seasoned team with a clear road map to market.

Rumin8 maintains that the global methane-abatement market is large enough to sustain multiple solutions, especially as countries and supply chains intensify climate commitments.

By integrating Roam’s technology, the company says it can now offer a more diverse portfolio to farmers and ranchers seeking cost-effective, scalable tools to lower emissions while maintaining productivity.

Financial terms of the transaction remain confidential, but the acquisition signals growing momentum in livestock-focused climate technologies and increasing confidence in feed-additive interventions as part of global methane-reduction strategies.
