UTRIX launches new poultry performance enhancer, six liquid feed solutions in Lebanon

LEBANON – UTRIX S.A.L. has introduced a new poultry performance enhancer, BactiCid®NG, alongside six liquid drinking-water feed solutions to the Lebanese market, marking a significant expansion of its science-based animal nutrition portfolio across the Middle East and Africa. 

The products were unveiled during a customer event in Beirut, where international poultry expert Dr. Maarten De Gussem delivered a keynote address on gut health and the future of antibiotic-free production.

Dr. De Gussem underscored the growing urgency of alternatives to antibiotics in commercial poultry systems, noting that “in the last 15 years in Europe, an estimated 50–70% of broiler antibiotic use has been linked to bacterial enteritis (BE).” 

He emphasized that BE is a complex, multifactorial disease often confused with necrotic enteritis, adding that “antibiotics are not a long-term solution – even narrow-spectrum drugs disturb the beneficial microbiome and problems often relapse after treatment.”

His remarks provided the backdrop for UTRIX’s launch of BactiCid®NG, a next-generation feed additive formulated to improve gut integrity, optimize microbiota balance, and enhance overall poultry performance. 

The product combines tributyrin with encapsulated essential oils, delivered through UTRIX’s patented UtriCAPS microencapsulation technology to ensure targeted release along the gastrointestinal tract.

According to Valerie Daher, Product Manager at UTRIX, the global phase-out of antibiotic growth promoters has created both challenges and opportunities for poultry producers. 

“The future lies in better diagnosis, data-driven management, natural, non-toxic alternatives, and, above all, a clear focus on gut health,” she said.

Six new liquid solutions for rapid field response

Alongside BactiCid®NG, UTRIX rolled out six liquid feed additive solutions, UtriCool, UtriRespi, UtriCalm, UtriShell L, UtriCid®DW, and KleenTox®DW, designed for administration through drinking water at 0.5–1 L per 1,000 L. 

These products offer fast, flexible support during periods of heat stress, reduced feed intake, or health challenges that affect consumption patterns.

Daher noted that the new solutions provide a practical toolkit for producers across the MEA region, enabling targeted intervention at critical production moments. 

All seven new products will be showcased at VIV MEA in Abu Dhabi from November 25–27.

Founded in 2009 and operating a GMP+ and ISO-certified production facility in Bekaa since 2015, UTRIX is currently the only feed additive manufacturer in Lebanon.
