Loop Pet Food named among world’s top 100 ventures driving planet-positive change

KENYA – Loop Pet Food has been selected as one of the Blue Earth 100 (BE100) companies for 2025, a global recognition celebrating the top 100 ventures transforming how the world works through innovation, impact, and sustainability. 

The accolade positions Loop among a select group of changemakers driving solutions for a regenerative future.

Chosen from more than 1,000 applicants worldwide, the BE100 honours high-growth businesses pioneering practical solutions for the planet. 

The selected companies will pitch live to hundreds of purpose-driven investors at the Blue Earth Summit, to be held from October 15–17, 2025, at Woolwich Works in London.

Pioneering circular pet nutrition

Loop Pet Food, founded by a female entrepreneur with a background in sustainable agriculture, is building Africa’s first circular pet food company. 

The company transforms agricultural by-products and insect protein into affordable, healthy pet food, proving that sustainability can start with what’s in a pet’s bowl.

After witnessing the damage caused by conventional protein production across Africa, from deforestation to overfishing, the founder identified an opportunity to replace unsustainable ingredients like soy and fishmeal with Black Soldier Fly (BSF) protein and upcycled fruits and vegetables. 

Loop’s first insect-based dog food validated both the science and consumer demand, showing that pet owners are ready to make climate-positive choices without sacrificing quality or affordability.

Loop’s mission is to make circular nutrition the new norm, turning agricultural waste into high-value, planet-friendly products that strengthen local economies. 

As Africa’s first truly circular pet food company, it aims to expand globally while remaining rooted in regenerative and inclusive principles, highlighting how female-led innovation can reshape food systems and make every meal a force for good.

Recognising global game-changers

Now in its third year, the BE100 competition assesses ventures based on breakthrough innovation, environmental impact, commercial viability, and team strength. 

The initiative welcomes startups and scaleups across three categories, for previous winners such as Urban Chain.

“The BE100 has opened doors and created opportunities that have truly accelerated our growth,” said Dr Somayeh Taheri, Co-Founder of Urban Chain, a 2024 BE100 Scale winner.

The Blue Earth Summit 2025 is expected to attract over 7,000 attendees, including innovators, investors, and policymakers. 

With tracks spanning Nature, Innovation, Sport & Adventure, Leadership & Green Skills, Finance, Energy, Food & Agriculture, and Oceans, the event will showcase the best in climate-positive entrepreneurship.

Among other agritech innovators joining Loop in the BE100 cohort are Rare Earth Global, which develops sustainable hemp-based proteins for food and aquafeed, and Fairman Knight and Sons UK, pioneering large-scale black soldier fly bioconversion to transform organic waste into regenerative agricultural inputs.

For Loop Pet Food, this recognition signals both validation and opportunity, a chance to amplify Africa’s role in sustainable innovation while proving that pet nutrition can drive real-world impact for the planet.
