The launch comes just a year after the company opened its fifth facility in Feira de Santana, Bahia, underscoring its aggressive growth strategy.

BRAZIL – Adimax, Brazil’s second-largest pet food manufacturer, has officially opened its sixth production facility, a R$140 million (approximately US$24.8 million) plant in Mandirituba, Paraná.
Located just outside Curitiba, the new factory adds 7,000 tons per month to Adimax’s output, strengthening its national footprint and expanding its reach across South America.
The launch comes just a year after the company opened its fifth facility in Feira de Santana, Bahia, underscoring its aggressive growth strategy.
Founded in 2002, Adimax operates additional plants in São Paulo, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, and Goiás.
With the addition of Mandirituba, the company now surpasses Premier Pet, which runs two large-scale plants in production capacity, further consolidating its presence in a pet food market projected to generate US$7.46 billion in Brazil this year.
The Mandirituba facility will manufacture Adimax’s leading brands, including Fórmula Natural, Origens, Magnus, and Qualidy, catering to both the domestic market and export destinations.
“This strategic location strengthens our supply to the South and Southeast regions and boosts exports across South America,” said the company.
Situated in the heart of Paraná’s agribusiness corridor, the plant benefits from its proximity to key highways, enabling fast distribution to markets like Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
This geographical advantage is expected to play a pivotal role in Adimax’s future ambitions. “Mandirituba is poised to evolve into a premier export hub,” the company stated, reinforcing its leadership in Latin America’s growing pet nutrition sector.
Brazil exported roughly 85,500 tons of dog and cat food in 2024, worth around US$100 million, with top markets including Uruguay, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, and Paraguay. The Mandirituba plant’s capabilities position Adimax to capture a larger slice of this export-driven growth.
Beyond sheer production, Adimax is also setting industry benchmarks in sustainability. The company uses at least 30% post-consumer recycled PET in its packaging, a move that reflects rising consumer preferences for eco-friendly and premium pet products.
Adimax’s contribution to the industry also includes a philanthropic dimension. The company runs one of Brazil’s only five guide dog and assistance dog training institutes, serving children on the autism spectrum.
The initiative, fully funded and managed by Adimax with support from partners in the pet care sector, highlights its commitment to social responsibility.
Brazil remains a global force in pet food, ranking among the top five producers worldwide. Yet despite growing pet ownership and a surge in demand for natural, premium offerings, the market faces challenges.
Economic volatility and competition from alternative products have dampened growth to an extent. Still, the sector is projected to grow by 7.9% annually through 2030, reaching 3.62 billion kg in volume by the end of the decade.
