INDIA – Following the cancellation of the original World Aquaculture 2025 event, which was scheduled to take place in China from April 24-27, the convention has been relocated to Hyderabad, India.
The rescheduled event will now be held from November 10-13, 2025.
The organisers of World Aquaculture 2025 have confirmed that despite the logistical challenges of relocating, they remain committed to delivering an engaging and informative experience for attendees.
The event was initially planned in collaboration with the China Society of Fisheries, but unforeseen circumstances led to its cancellation.
“This relocation allows us to continue providing an exceptional experience for our attendees. Despite the challenges posed by this change, we are committed to ensuring a successful event and are excited about the opportunities this new location presents. We believe this is a positive development and the right time to return to India after our first successful experience there,” the organisers stated in a press release.
The return of the World Aquaculture Convention series to India aligns well with the ongoing growth of the aquaculture industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
Hyderabad is set to host an array of industry experts, researchers, and businesses, making it a strategic hub for discussions and advancements in aquaculture.
Abstracts submitted for the cancelled World Aquaculture China 2025 event will continue to be processed by the program committee, and all registrations will remain valid.
Additionally, the abstract submission deadline has been extended to August 31, 2025, allowing more participants to contribute to the event.
Uganda to host World Aquaculture Safari 2025
Meanwhile, another significant event in the World Aquaculture Conference series—Aquaculture Safari 2025—will showcase the latest advancements in aquaculture across Africa and the global fish farming industry.
East Africa, home to vast inland water reserves, including Lake Victoria—the world’s second-largest freshwater lake and the largest tropical lake—has emerged as the fastest-growing region for aquaculture on the African continent. Tilapia farming remains the dominant sector, but other species and marine aquaculture, such as seaweed farming, are gaining momentum.
In light of this, the upcoming World Aquaculture Conference, titled World Aquaculture Safari 2025, will take place from June 24-27 at Speke Resort Munyonyo on the shores of Lake Victoria, Uganda.
The event will incorporate the African Regional Aquaculture (AFRAQ) conference, focusing on key topics like tilapia and catfish production while addressing global aquaculture advancements.
High-profile participation and extensive industry showcase
Commitments for participation have already been received from major international organizations such as the FAO, the World Bank, the African Development Bank, GIZ, and the African Union.
The accompanying trade show and exhibition is expected to be the largest assembly of aquaculture goods and service providers in Africa to date.
Additionally, the event will feature an extensive Farmer’s Day, an Aquaculture Investment and Seaweed Workshop, and a Field Day to visit some of the largest fish farms on Lake Victoria.
These side events will provide invaluable insights into aquaculture innovations and regional investment opportunities.
